New sign ups have been recorded to here on this new spreadsheet:

We have enough people to create a new team, but unfortunately no volunteers for captain or co-captain, so I'm unable to create a new team at this stage. Unless some people would like to change their preferences, we will need to wait until we get some more sign-ups or spaces are made available on the existing teams. (Current team allocations have until Nov 3 to check-in to their teams after which if we haven't received a check-in, we will use a reserve as a replacement player)

Team Captain(s) whose duties include:
- Keeping a Google Spreadsheet that all members can view (we will provide you with a template)
- checking team members books read and page counts
- communicating with a NBRC Moderator
- communicating with all Team Members
- making sure Team Members are staying active
- notifying the NBRC Mod if someone drops out
- have effective and kind (this is a game, remember) on-line communication skills to help members having trouble
- making sure Team Members belong on your team
- posting weekly status updates/reminders
- dealing with minor issues that arise
- post little challenges within challenges, if desired.
You may rotate/share these duties. We would suggest you have at least one Co-Captain.
You may have as many Captains and Co-Captains as you like.
we have a separate Captains group for captains and co-captains where you can get help from other captains and the moderators ; and of course if you have never done it before the moderator for your team will give you more help to get you started.
It isn't difficult, but may involve 1-2 hours per week of additional goodreads time to do the above

I think the most work/time is spent on the spreadsheet and checking books read and page counts, personally. Others may feel differently, though.
The mods of this group are all very, very friendly, helpful, full of wisdom and experience, plus each team is a part of an "element system", which has a mod as your mentor. So, if you take on the role of captain and feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do or how to start, I know with all my heart that your mentor will step up and guide you with a helping hand.
I would like to extend a little bit of advice to those who are wondering what the challenge is like or how difficult it might be to take on the role of captain -- take a look at some of the team threads and get to know what team members are saying, doing, how they interact with one another, take notice of how many group mods post in various teams (they are omnipresent!), including the mentors of each team element. It's like dipping your toe into the water before you start to swim.
The fun doesn't really begin until November 8th, but the build-up is going to be a blast.

✔ How many books you have read in 2014 (>100 pages) ~200
✔ How many books you plan to read 2015? ~300
✔ The continent you live in (so we can try and match time zones) North America, pacific time, i think
✔ Would you be willing to be a Team Captain? Or Co-Captain? No. sorry
✔ Is this your first team challenge with NBRC? yes

My first time being captain was scary because I was afraid of messing up or just dropping the ball but the mods are very helpful and so are many of the members.

✔How many books have you read in 2014 (>100 pages) -> I've read 338 books so far. I'm not sure how many were less than 100 pages but since I don't read many novellas I am going to guess at least 330 of this are over 100 pages.
✔I plan to read about 300-350 books in 2015.
✔I live in North America - central time zone
✔I probably shouldn't be a captain or co-captain this round since it's my first go at this.
✔Yes, this is my first team challenge with NBRC. Mostly because I just joined this group...about 5 minutes ago.

Ok Joi ans Angel, I'll put you down as co-captains of a new team. Just give me a few hours to put it all together

It may be a competition, but we all make it fun!! So don't hesitate!

Update
We are still taking sign-ups and will continue to do so through most of the challenge as members need to leave for "real life" reasons or reading goals change, but those signing up are placed on a 'reserve' list and we will message you as soon as a place is available on a team, OR we may get enough new signups to create a new team. Watch this space!

How many books you have read in 2014 (>100 pages): I've read 63 books in 2014 so far. 55 of those were greater than a 100 pages.
