Irene Adelson's beginnings in post-WWII New York City are nothing if not modest, but her extraordinary gifts begin to make themselves known around the time she begins school. In her youth, when she comes face to face with devastating trauma, she turns to science as a means of coping with the events that cause her so much pain, certain that science will provide the path to unlocking life's mysteries.
A college grad at age nineteen, with an MD/PhD in hand by twenty-six, the brave, determined, and whip smart Irene Adelson becomes a physician-scientist who makes a paradigm-changing discovery. The secret sauce in her life is love; a love that soaks deep into her very being, giving her the courage to confront the foes that threaten to derail her life and career, and turning bad luck into something altogether different.

Abigail Isaacs fears ever again falling under the power of love and dedicates her life to studying the heavens. However, upon her father’s demise she finds herself in reduced circumstances and must write to her brother, who has long been away at sea. When instead Captain Wentworth of the HMS Laconia sends a tragic reply, Abigail is asked to set aside her own ambitions and fulfill her brother’s dreams in the Viceroyalty of Río de la Plata.
In his relentless pursuit for justice, Lieutenant Raphael Gabay lends his sword to the Spanish American cause. But as he prepares to set sail with the others, he is entrusted with the care of a young woman. She is quite unlike anyone he has ever known, and Raphael wonders whether the brilliant astronomer will see beyond his frivolous façade and recognize his true nature.
Their destinies have been plotted beyond the celestial veil; their charts foretell of adventure. Can these two troubled souls be persuaded to heed the stars and find love—and their purpose—in this fledgling nation?
Set against the backdrop of Argentina’s struggle for independence, this Jewish historical fiction may be considered a prequel to Jane Austen’s "Persuasion."
Coming to Amazon June 30, 2021. The preorder link can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Celestial-Pers...

This is a family with a lot of advantages--financial success, strong family ties, loving friends, the community and practice that Judaism provides--but it doesn't make Jenny's loss any less horrible. The novel is raw, painful, often achingly sad, an unflinching journey through the reality of child loss, yet hope haltingly asserts itself as Joy so imperfectly confronts the new life emerging from the ashes of the old. Judaism is deeply intertwined in the narrative and speaks to this family in ways that surprise them; Joy forms an unexpected connection to ritual, to Torah and to her rabbi. Her marriage is turned inside out, stretched past recognition, yet Jenny's death becomes one more bond tying the family together. Writing this book was one more step I took on the road toward what is true. Life goes on. I hope that both bereaved parents and the people who love them can find support and recognition in Without Jenny.
Hi Mark,
So.. I pretty much got caught off guard after reading this post
which is something that never happens.
You write with such depth and emotion, that I am almost speechless.
First of all, congratulations on your book.
I know reading this book will be catharsis to many, as I can see this through your words. Having all the advantages in the world can not make one exempt from a tragedy.
The thought behind your book is exceptionally generous.
Wishing you nothing but the best of success, and thank you for posting this.

I am thrilled to announce that my second novel, The Sword of David, will be available nationwide September 7th, 2021 and is available for pre-order today!
The novel is an action-packed thriller with Da Vinci Code historical elements woven into a modern-day spy novel.
In The Sword of David, you will meet colorful characters—including Rafsani, the terrorist who trained under the infamous Carlos the Jackal; the Israeli spy Galit who works undercover in Paris under the alias Sister Chloe; Baroness Collins, who has an important position in the UK government as well as being the head of a secret organization long thought to be defunct; a renegade CIA operative; a Palestinian once nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize; and the Palestinian’s terrorist grandson.
The book is based on extensive research, including travel to Israel, London, Paris, Rome and Istanbul, and puts you alongside the protagonist, Chaim Klein, on a fast-paced journey around the world.
The prologue starts in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. on the day the Romans destroyed the city and Temple Mount and explains the disappearance of the Ark of the Covenant and the Ten Commandments. The story then jumps to present day where a Hamas homicide bomber infiltrates the Western Wall Plaza killing hundreds. Mourning the tragedy of this attack deep inside the Temple Mount, where Klein works as an archeologist, he stumbles upon the long-lost Ark of the Covenant. That sets him on not just a global search for the Ten Commandments, but also on a mission to stop a massive international terrorist attack. By all accounts, the ending is unexpected, stunning, and atypical for terrorist thrillers.
For more information on The Sword of David, please visit my website at www.chucklichtman.com.
Finally, I hope you will enjoy reading my latest novel as much as I enjoyed writing it. Stay tuned for updates and in the meantime, the book is available for pre-order now, so please share with friends and family. Can’t wait to hear what you think!
Thank you.

Mirta, I love your writing style and am looking forward to this next book. You touch upon all my favorites: Jewish protagonists, clean, light reading and period pieces. Kol hakavod!

A 4-year-old girl is abducted from a Jewish community in a small, Indiana university town. She is taken to the surrounding forest, where she grows up to become First Woman, the leader of a mostly-Jewish cooperative--which includes the handsome schemer, Larry. In a shocking act of betrayal of the cooperative, she, too, abducts a Jewish child as a companion for her baby girl.
Will Teshuva bring peace to the Jewish communities in both the town and the forest during the time of Covid-19 and beyond?

COMMENTS FROM EARLY READERS
OF AFTER AUSCHWITZ
… I loved, loved, loved the book!! Thank you so much for writing it and also for allowing me to be an earlier reader!
… what an intense love story … spanning 30 years, much of it spent apart but never out of love
… The book was very educational for me, while also a gripping read. I only wish I had paid more attention in history class! I think your novels should be required reading for all high school students.
… I liked the way you linked the fictional stories of Berthold and Anna with real people like Golda Meir, Elie Wiesel, Albert Speer and Adolf Eichmann, making the historical characters come alive
… during one of Berthold's garden conversations at Spandau you asked the most profound question: Is it possible that Hitler was using the diversion of war in order to carry out the mass murder of Jews, which had always been his higher priority? … Lew, chills went down my spine when I read those words! I've never heard anyone say that before … Dear God, what if it was a true statement?
… I found your story to be very emotional, and I had to pause a lot to dry my eyes; Often it was the parts about the good in people that brought the tears, not the evil … but also I felt bad for the tragic misery of Berthold despite the fact that he did so much good at such danger to himself.
… I was intrigued by your treatment of the early history of Israel and the links you drew between the Holocaust and the new state for Jews
… Berthold’s prison sentence seemed so unfair, but in the end it seemed necessary for him to do more good, and to help with his eventual healing.
… I think the book is a great ending to the trilogy, and ties many things together, although it can also be read first or as a standalone.
… even some of the things I knew were fictional seemed real; such as the meetings with Elie Wiesel.
AN OVERVIEW OF THE TRILOGY
AFTER AUSCHWITZ completes a trilogy of novels which also includes A FLOOD OF EVIL and A PROMISE KEPT.
These three novels explore the unrelenting efforts of two people - the German Catholic Berthold Becker and the Polish Jew Anna Gorska - as they seek to oppose Hitler and his atrocities while also maintaining, often from afar, their intense love.
A FLOOD OF EVIL covers the years 1923 to 1933 as Berthold and Anna grow up in Munich and Poland respectively, meet and fall in love, and begin their efforts to tell the world what Hitler is about to do.
A PROMISE KEPT advances the story from 1934 to 1946, from Hitler’s early years of power through the war, the Holocaust, and the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials.
AFTER AUSCHWITZ explores the postwar lives of Berthold and Anna from 1946 to 1961, set mostly in Spandau Prison and the new State of Israel.
The first two novels also include scenes which take place in 1990, when Berthold and Anna look back and, with help, are finally able to tell their stories.
I have written these books so that, even though they are sequential, they can be read in any order. If you read AFTER AUSCHWITZ first, you could then easily read A FLOOD OF EVIL and A PROMISE KEPT as prequels.

No wonder we haven't heard from you in a while.

As a recent member of the community, I want to thank my fellow authors for the opportunity to enjoy their books. I am excited to annouce my new novel, 2207 South Green Road, which was released last week.
The book relates the antics of a quirky Jewish family in Ohio in the early 1960s. It is a coming of age story of a 10-year old child who is the beneficiary of life lessons, often funny, often sad, as the group is gingerly glued together by their affection for one another and their determination to guard their family secrets.
I hope it evokes nostalgia for those of you from Cleveland and those of you who view the early 1960s as a complicated time to be growing up.
Janice,
This looks like a great book. Im intrigued by the life lessons that

It’s been four years since seventeen-year-old Ruth set eyes
on her fiancé. After surviving near-starvation, revolution and a long trip across the stormy ocean, she can’t help but wonder: Will Abraham still love her? Or has America changed him?
Nowhere’s as full of change as 1909 New York. From moving pictures to daring clothes to the ultra-modern Triangle Shirtwaist Factory where she gets a job, everything exhilarates Ruth. When the New World even seems to rejuvenate her bond with Abraham, she is filled with hope for their prospects and the future of their war-torn families.
But when she makes friends and joins the labor movement to fight for rights of the mostly female workers against the powerful factory owners, she realizes she might be the one America is changing. And she just might be leaving Abraham behind.
The Girl in the Triangle is a historical immigration story. It questions
what it means to be an American, and what is the true
meaning of strength.

Happy to announce my first novel is now out, Devil's Ivy. It's a contemporary Israeli novel.
The Kindle version should be free for 24 hours, from Sunday Aug. 22 noon till Monday Aug. 23 at noon.
It's also free for those with Kindle Unlimited.

I would be ecstatic if any of you could take the time to read the book and leave an honest, unbiased review on Amazon.
The blurb:
Amy is in her mid-forties and still doesn't know what to do with her life. She comes across an ad for group therapy led by the charismatic Yigal at his home in the Galilee, and she is smitten. Over the summer, she listens to the stories of the five other participants - tough grandmother Orna whose husband left her for another woman; young, sensual Reishit, raised on a religious settlement and newly single; the architect Michal, with a teenage daughter who despises her; the divorced and lustful Shimon; and Guy, a doctoral student at Hebrew University, still obsessed with the Moslem Arab woman he loved years ago.
Their stories awaken a spark within Amy, and she begins to reconnect with the world around her.
Throughout it all, the boundaries of therapy are questioned. Is Yigal a brilliant therapist, or a fake guru? Does his therapy help or harm?
The novel provides a first hand, authentic Israeli voice, exploring contemporary issues such as gender, aging, language and religion.
Thank you for that offer, Gal. We need to set an alarm and not miss it!
You've given quite a setup for your novel. 😊

Going to take a look now at all the other interesting books mentioned in this thread!

After much deliberation, I am announcing the release of my (rather controversial) book "Back to the Tribe", free with Kindle Unlimited:
In a post-Trump era which has coaxed a wealth of far right antisemitism from the woodwork, this book explores the comparatively insidious tendency of the far left to associate Jews with disproportionate privilege due to the conflation of the Ashkenazi majority with whiteness in contemporary identity politics, and how both diaspora Jewry and Israel can oppose such a notion by re-embracing their Middle Eastern roots.
