I'm a freshman.

Lisa Gibson (lisagibson) | 10 comments Hi everyone! I love to read. Let me rephrase. I LOVE to read and especially YA lit! I also love goodreads. This is a very cool place to hang out. I write YA novels. Will work on getting an agent once current wip (work-in-progress)is ready to roll. Have one fabulous 13 year old named Elijah, one curious kitty named Clouseau, and a super silly schnauzer named Marley.
May read The Dark Divine with you guys. Hey has anyone noticed how the covers of The Dark Divine, Shades and Bleeding Violet are so similar. Weird. Anyway, looks like a great group.

message 806: by Alan (new)

Alan (coachmt) | 20 comments Welcome Lisa! I've noticed a lot of covers are similar these days. Go to the teen/YA section of your local bookstore and all you see is black it seems.

message 807: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (booksavvy) Hi everyone! My name is Stacey and I am a children's librarian in the suburbs of Chicago. I'm also a graphic designer (mostly layout and typography) and a certified school library media specialist (K-12). Even though I spend my days surrounded by picture books and puppets, my own personal reading love is young adult novels. :) Nice to meet everyone!

message 810: by John (new)

John (femme_trash) Hey, my name is John, and I am a teenager, aspiring writer, and a YA fiction addict. I run a blog, Dreaming in Books, at http://dreaminginbooks.blogspot.com, and I pretty much read anything that is in print, though YA is my personal genre of choice. The one book I'd say everyone should read would be The Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd, as it has a killer gay protagonist and amazing writing! If you're into romance novels, go Gone With the Wind. It's just amazing. I'm glad to be here, and HI Y'ALL!

message 811: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Gibson (lisagibson) | 10 comments John,
I'm going to add The Vast Fields... to my tbr pile. Sounds like a wonderful book. I'll drop by your blog too. :)

message 812: by John (new)

John (femme_trash) Lisa,
Thanks for stopping by the blog! I'm glad to know you like it. :) And Vast Fields was great, I hope you love it like I do! :D

Hey everyone! My name is Jackie. I love reading and I get obbsessed with books when I get really into them. YA is my faorite, probably due to I'm 18, but I always have a hard time finding good reads. But i have read a very largeanount of novels and I'm excited to be apart of this group!

message 814: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Benefiel (staceyhowland) Greetings! I'm Stacey and I like to read and write YA. I've been lurking in a few YA groups and am really enjoying the discussions. My TBR pile is growing daily. I was finally able to read Catching Fire a couple weeks ago (the waiting list at the library was massive!)and am anxious to chat about that.

message 815: by Lisa (last edited Jun 03, 2010 12:35PM) (new)

Lisa Gibson (lisagibson) | 10 comments Stacey, that's the next thing I'm reading once I'm through "Hold Still" that I'm reading right now.

message 816: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Benefiel (staceyhowland) Lisa, I envy your getting to read Catching Fire. Looks like Hold Still needs to go in my TBR pile. LOL

message 817: by Jhenn (new)

Jhenn (letthemeatcxke) | 2 comments Hello, everyone. =]

I'm Jheanelle, and I'm pretty much new to the YA genre (unless of course you count reading Twilight). I'm 23 years old, a student, but have currently found my time freed up since I'm taking a break from school. Right now, I'm enjoying The Dark Divine so I'm looking forward to more YA reading goodness lol.

message 832: by S.L. (new)

S.L. Naeole (sl_naeole) | 5 comments Aloha all! I'm S.L. Naeole (pronounced Ny-oh-leh), currently writing from the island of Oahu in the Aloha State. I'm an avid YA reader - love all of it - and write it as well.

I'm looking forward to reading the opinions of readers like me, both teen and adult, on everything that has to do with this awesome genre.

Mahalo for creating this group, and also for continuing to post in it.

message 833: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Welcome, S.L. Yes, Angie is a great mod! Great group with great group reads.

message 834: by Dana (last edited Jun 11, 2010 11:06PM) (new)

Dana Wright | 16 comments Hi. I am a manager with B&N and an avid reader of YA. I am also working on two YA novels of my own.

Most of what I read is teen, focusing on the paranormal but not limited to it by any means. If it is a good story, then I'm in!

I review books constantly at the store, on B&N.com and more recently on goodreads. If you love to read, feel free to look me up on facebook also. Love talking books. I am under Dana Wright.

Hobby wise, I knit, cook, do needlework and samplers, cook, bake, movie watch with my husband, write, and take care of my furry kids.

message 835: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Hi Dana, Hope you enjoy our discussions in this group.

message 836: by Sunni (new)

Sunni Hi everyone! I'm Petrina, and currently 15 yrs old. You'll find me with my head in a book, but don't interrupt, because I might get snappy =P
I am a romantic, and absolutely love books about impossible love. Books with a strong female character grab my attention, I really DO NOT like books with a weak 'I cant live without him' character (Sorry :S ). Well... that's about it :)

message 837: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Hi Petrina, Hope you enjoy the group.

Petrina, and everybody, make sure to vote for your favorite book of the month when Angie puts up the polls; you can then have a say in the type of book you most would like to have as a group read.

message 838: by Melissa (last edited Jun 12, 2010 11:38AM) (new)

Melissa (yabookshelf) Hi everyone! I'm Melissa, and I love reading and reviewing YA books for my site YA Book Shelf. I also write book commentaries and host interviews and giveaways on a fairly regular basis. :)

Today and tomorrow, I have a big even that I'm really excited about - a new interview with an amazing YA author named Jill Murray. She'll be popping by to answer questions and comments, so check it out!

xtina (moydrookreads) | 2 comments helloo! so happy to find this group. i'm 24, working in publishing (though not YA, sadly) - and have recently developed a passion for YA lit, especially paranormal and fantasy. i think it's because i never had a chance to read much of this stuff when i actually was a young adult (was too busy reading the classics for my english classes!).

message 847: by Kellee (new)

Kit Orellana (kittyorell) Hello members of the YA Book Club! My name is Kit Johnson. I am 16 years old. I am the oldest of 5 kids and I have a cat. I passed my driving test on the first try.

The most interesting thing about my house - I have a rock wall in my front room.

The most interesting thing about my family - my mother is the mayor of my city (of over 100,000 residents).

I read whenever I can and I own over 2,000 books. My friends say that my (wall-sized) bookshelf is better than the library. I joined this group to find some good books to read.
