SOLVED. Medieval historical romance/ Both H.H. have been previously married. [s]

Heroine is a daughter of a powerful higher ranking lord then the hero. The heroine was previously married but sent back to her family because she is thought to be barren. Her father-in- law had to force his son to bed her. Afterwards his son, her husband would throw up.( husband didn't care to bed females). The heroine takes this personally and thinks it is her fault. Hero offers to take heroine for his bride. Hero is rumored to have killed his first wife in a fire (I think). She accepts his offer of marriage but is still prideful and has her chair in the hall on dais raised higher then his to remind every one she is a higher ranking noble and married "down". The heroine ends up getting taken and staked out naked in front of the keep she was taken to. The hero is of course upset by this and worried because his powerful father-in law brings his army to help with the rescue. I believe its has been over 15 years ago since I read this book. bump

Hmm. The actually sounded like Julie Garwood's novel, Saving Grace, until it got to the part about being staked out naked.

Yes it does sound close to Saving Grace. I have read Saving Grace and love Julie Garwood's books. The book I'm trying to remember the title of the Hero was slightly intimidated by the Heroines father and her powerful family. The marriage was only approved by her father because they thought her to be barren. Thank you for your input.

I know the heroine in the book I'm trying to remember has a arrogance and haughtiness like the Princess because of her station being higher then the hero in the story. The book I'm trying to remember was published over 15 years ago or longer. I was reading a lot of what some call "Bodice Rippers" during the time I read this book. Thank you for your in put now I have to add The Princess to my TBR list, lol.
