I would say yes to pine needles and no to grass but I tend to be pickier than most.

Would An Anita Blake book like Guilty Pleasures work for task #2 with a perpetually grumpy/grouchy/bitchy character? Personally I think she's grumpy all the time in the first few books but want to be sure
Hello, do you think this book will work for task 3 in SZ2:
?Task 3: Read a book with a natural setting on the cover and that contains the word ANIMAL in the text

For task 8. written by a author from the Mediterranean - would you consider Rafael Sabatini as an author from the Mediterranean? He was born in Italy, was half-Italian and half-British and is usually referred to as an Italian-English writer. Or should it be an author who was not only born in a Mediterranean country, but also grew up/lived there?
For iv Read a book with a brown item (something that can be touched) on the cover and that contains at least four of the letters of E-C-H-I-D-N-A in the author's nameWould you accept
for the brown hair ?

Rina wrote: "For task 8. written by a author from the Mediterranean - would you consider Rafael Sabatini as an author from the Mediterranean? Moving later in life is fine but I can't find how long he actually lived in Italy. Again, I may be too picky.
I think Lexi and I are on the same wavelength again. I agree about “from” being different from “born”...

Rina wrote: "For task 8. written by a author from the Mediterranean - would you consider Rafael Sabatini as an author from the Mediterranean? And in this case it just says that he was exposed to many languages at an early age. It doesn't say anywhere that he didn't live in Italy. And it sounds as if he didn't learn English until he was around 17.

I keep second guessing myself"
Sorry, Mollie. I would vote no for your book. Bees are actually quite fuzzy, so it would be the opposite of prickly. If their stingers were showing, that would be different... ;)
Cinthia wrote: "... Bees are actually quite fuzzy, so it would be the opposite of prickly. If their stingers were showing, that would be different... ;)"Thanks Cinthia. That's exactly why I kept second guessing myself. I do think a couple stingers are showing but I don't know enough bee anatomy to be sure and I'm not super keen to read this book anyway. I was just trying to kill two challenges with one book so I'll keep hunting.
Cinthia wrote: "Rina wrote: "For task 8. written by a author from the Mediterranean - would you consider Rafael Sabatini as an author from the Mediterranean? His parents were opera singers who then became teachers. At a young age, Sabatini was exposed to many languages, living with his grandfather in England, attending school in Portugal, and, as a teenager, in Switzerland. " He moved a lot but not really Italy.

To me, no.
There is a lot of variation among Romani people, and who am I to categorize people by race anyway.
But I think you should wait for a few more opinions.
Shanna_redwind wrote: "Yes, an orange grove that is being grown to be harvested would be considered a farm."Fantastic. That's exactly what they're doing with them, selling the fruit and harvesting essential oils too.
Thanks.

I have no idea so I Googled it and here we go: "Romani people ... are a migratory group originating from Northwestern India. Their exodus from India occurred approximately 1000–1500 years ago. The migration route of the Romani people was reconstructed with the help of cultural anthropology, linguistics and historical records. Their migration made them through Central Asia, Middle East and the Caucasus region, prior to the arriving into Europe." So yes and no, they are from N India originally, but their DNA is primarily S India, Europe and the Caucasus region, which means 2 out of three are Caucasian so it might be easier to find another book. (the Caucasus are where the word Caucasian originates I am pretty sure).

On top of this info, I would ask what the other half is?
The other half is generic American. Only ever refers to her dead mother with the Romani phrase for a person not Romani, which I cant remember. But with 2 votes as probably not, I'll look for something else.

I compared our books and we have quite a few in common, so if you haven't read these already try Skinwalker a UF or Kindred a time travel fantasy, the MCs are Cherokee and African-American respectively.

Thanks for the suggestions, they both look great.
