Does this book work for the task....?

Color seems good to me. Also, book sounds highly entertaining.

work for Group 2 task iv?
We have two possible arguments.
1. If the girl is holding a laptop (which is what it looks like to us), then laptops get very hot. The one on my lap right now is burning my legs.
2. If she is not, then she is on top of a moving bus, which must have a very hot engine, engine parts, etc. The point is, there would be many things on said bus that would burn you if you touched them.
What is the verdict, folks? Are there hot things on this cover?

We need more people to weigh in, though.

Plus skull and bones usually means death or poison, so I would also say it's nasty

Well you have Mods plus 2 people here saying no, and another person saying "it's a bit of a stretch but yes". I think the scales are weighed.
And the item on the cover is not even a "hood" of a bus, like Jessi just said, but an entire bus, and one that doesn't even have a hood visible at all. It's one of those flat-front buses.

Still seems like a stretch as a generally hot item, plus that doesn't even look like a laptop to me. Looks like she's just reading a notebook or a journal. :/

I'm really not trying to be a stubborn obstructionist, BTW! I just don't see it. Sorry!

Hp Spectre. I use it for hours and it doesn't get uncomfortably hot (no more than when I use my mobile phone). Maybe time to upgrade your laptop? ;)

This was the message on our thread -- "We aren't convinced that is a hot desert (clouds, for a start, plus deserts aren't automatically hot, just dry. eg Antarctica is a desert, or Atacama desert: is warm rather than scorchio).
The mods are open to interpretation with what is hot, but don't agree this fits the task. To avoid burned feet, please take your case to the other players in THIS thread. If you find support, then you can PM us to reverse the damage"

I know that Antarctica is technically a desert, but it doesn't look like this. This looks like all the hot deserts in all the movies, with the sand dunes. And I buy that as a sandstorm, not a rainstorm. It seems to be day. It looks like it's getting dark, which would be what would make me question it, since most deserts get pretty cold at night. I would say yes.

I can't agree with the bus cover having something hot hot.

Even though it is in a delicious Lemon Meringue Pie the title also indicates that the pie is used in a murder therefore I would consider the cross bones being nasty as it could represent poison.

I also only see a journal in the girls hand therefore the laptop burning her lap will not fit.
Buses can be very hot places (without aircon) and it looks like there are a lot of passengers in the bus making the character go on to the roof. She is however wearing a sweater so this does not indicate hot to me.

You are my team mate so my answer may seem biased.
I agree with many of the comments that deserts can be cold at times particularly at night or in winter. Some deserts are also considered only warmish. but generally most deserts are considered arid, dry, moistureless, dried up, parched, scorched, burnt, hot, burning or torrid places
The cover does indicate a sand desert and not a snow one like Antarctica. The characters are also not wearing very heavy gear which would indicate a very cold climate. On the audio book edition cover you can see the characters shielding their eyes from dust (not rain) swept up by the wind.
Perhaps there is a passage in the book that will assist others to come to a definite answer with regards to the book

Yes but only if the brightest green part is more than 50% according to TinEye.

Thanks in advance"
I say yes as the bright green is 49.8% (Ocean green) and there is another bright green at 1.7%.

It is kind of a nice clean dagger, maybe if it had blood?

It sounds like it! It is about...6 years old now, but I am still using it because there is technically nothing else wrong with it. :)

Aren't daggers always nasty? I mean, what reason do you have a dagger other than to stick it into people/things that probably don't want to be stuck with a dagger? Seems pretty nasty to me. :)

I would say no, because sometimes there are tasks specifically calling for ampersands in the title, or some such. We can’t use the word “and” to stand in for the ampersand, so it shouldn’t work the other way around either, if that makes sense.
If the majority of editions of the book spell out the word “and” in the title but yours uses an ampersand, then that might be an okay exception, but in this case it looks like there are 3 GR editions and they all have an ampersand.

Me too, Alysa. My first thought is that daggers are not nasty, they're actually pretty cool. But most people seem to think they're nasty...

Sounds good. This challenge is a lot of fun! Thanks for helping to host it!

Please let me know if this works for book with green writing :) (ACID is in the title)

No, but it still crosses 50% if you remove goblin green and just include fruit salad and the other two brighter greens. Also, who names these greens?
Edit: Jenny apparently has answered my question on naming before I asked it
