I'm fine. Just finished but with school I haven't had a chance to write and sleep both. But will be posting this weekend. It was awesome.

I will finish this week. Thoroughly enjoying it! I vote for,us to pick an October book, and have one to recommend...

I know many have read it but it seems an appropriate time to read Winter World by Bernd Heinrich. I also would love to have his Life Everlasting as some folks were interested last month

I have had Winter World on my list for way too long. Time to read it. Live Everlasting is terrific, but I've read it.

Since this will be for the October book of the month, I'm going to nominate Witch Wood by John Buchan. Another novel, but the environment is SUCH a strong character in the story! Happy Halloween, everyone! ;)

I've been reading reviews on amazon of Witch Wood. Most interesting so far:"C. S. Lewis liked this novel so much that he sent the author a fan letter, stating his appreciation for Buchan's novels but speaking especially of his gratitude for Witch Wood. Lewis commended the skilful buildup of atmosphere. You can find this Lewisian nugget in Janet Adam Smith's John Buchan and His World."

It's been years since I've read it, Andree, but I distinctly remember it having a very "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" feel and it was an eye-opener to how people living in a more rural time - without electric light - viewed the woods as a malevolent creature.

that's why I love this group. Good books, great literature, lots of connections, and learning. I'm going to read it even if it isn't chosen.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I am excited to read, Amazon Burning, an environmental thriller based on the Chico Mendes murder.
