In response to overwhelming popular demand (i.e. Christina) this is the thread for suggestions, questions and so on about 'It was a (fairly) dark...' Even better, why not get stuck in yourself (Amanda and I are both developing terminal writer's cramp by this stage!)

Yes! I'm popular enough to demand stuff!
Actually, I just wanted to let you all know I nearly spit coffee all over because of the vaguely naughty ventriloquist action. Perhaps I'll join in when I feel less intimidated. There is some seriously hilarious writing going on here.

message 3: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I didn't even look at it that way. But I can see where you get vaguely naughty ventriloquist action. It's pretty funny when I read back over it.

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Ah, I see the baroness has lost the ability to say s things. That took me a moment to translate.

When you guys started with the G for B, it took me a second to figure it out. Then I started trying to talk without moving my lips. Thank goodness I was home alone at the time.

message 6: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I'm having fun picturing that though. I think you should take a turn next. I'm curious as to what you would make at the top of the staircase.

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) | 1213 comments Mod
I'll take a look after dinner. Which I'm supposed to be cooking right now.

message 8: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I'm sorry I'm distracting you. I hope you haven't burned anything.

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) | 1213 comments Mod
Nah, I hadn't gotten up from the sofa yet. Now I'm eating and browsing like the forty year old teenager that I am.

I think I've come up with something though. We shall see. Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier; I also lost it at knocking boots.

message 10: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Oh, good. Did you have carrots? I really want carrots for some reason.
I'll have you know that as I was typing it I was getting a kick out of it.

message 11: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments My computer is dying and I'm about to get off of work so I will talk to you later. I will look later tonight to see if you've posted something though.

No carrots. Lentils and asparagus with meatless meatloaf. Carrots though... Hm... Story ideas.

That was tho thilly of me!

Luv the carrot idea thanks Amanda and Xtina! btw, I just had meatless Shepherds Pie :) although it did have a meat sub in there.

ETA: I just thought of a carrot idea (to keep that theme going for a little longer) but I'm going to wait to see what other twists you guys come up with 1st, just in case it doesn't work out well.

Meatless meat keeps me sane... Sort of. I grew up in a meat eating, mostly Italian family, so I'm super grateful for things like gardein brand "meats" I can use to replicate some family recipes.

I can totally relate because I grew up in a Turkish meat guzzling family and I also recreate some of my fave recipes using 'Yves' brand substitute meat. One of my sins ('sins' because I try not to overdo the processed food thing too much)is having Field Roast Sausages.

Amanda, the name 'Luka Palakiko' - anything the rest of us need to know about it (double meanings, or where it's from etc? - it sounds like Hawaiian to me).

His name is Luka. He might live on the second floor.

Invisible snowman! That's too funny. In was going with the carrot on a stick, but I lost my train of thought.

message 20: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I just really liked the name. The series I'm writing is set in Hawaii so I happened to have a list with Hawaii names on it.

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I really like the invisible snowman too!

message 22: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Does this mean it's my turn?

message 23: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Christina wrote: "His name is Luka. He might live on the second floor. "

Suzanne Vega?

message 24: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I'm really tired and I hope that didn't influence the tone of that too much.

Yep! MTV generation, I can't help but to equate everything with eighties pop hits.

message 26: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Just as long as you've grown out of the hair and clothing styles!

message 27: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments I've got that song on a record somewhere, but I don't actually have a working record player anymore. I really liked her music back then.

Invisible snowman with a floating carrot nose...genius! and yeah, I think it's your turn Amanda :)

Hey Hákon, luv to read a twist on the story from you too!

message 29: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I posted something about an hour ago. Is it invisible? That would be just my luck today. :)

message 30: by Christina (new)

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) | 1213 comments Mod
I see it!

message 31: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Oh good! For a minute there I was getting worried. I have already been invisible 6 times today and didn't want to add another.

message 32: by Christina (new)

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) | 1213 comments Mod
That seems like it could be a very convenient super power if you can figure out how to control it. ;)

message 33: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Yeah, but for me it has always entailed being forgotten. Waitresses at restaurants have forgotten my food, once twice in one meal. Nurses have forgotten that they put me in exam rooms. My mom has forgotten my birthday before. Police, bosses, teachers, the list goes on.

Yikes!...well, I do see your post and as always it's fun :)

message 35: by Christina (new)

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) | 1213 comments Mod
Ah, yes! I've been known to go invisible like that on occasion. Typically on the most inconvenient occasions.

message 36: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Turhan wrote: "Hey Hákon, luv to read a twist on the story from you too! "

Thanks Turhan, I'm going to give it a try, but probably not tonight.

message 37: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments So, who's turn is it now? I think the next person to go should start chapter 3.

message 38: by Turhan (new)

Turhan Halil | 270 comments Amanda wrote: "So, who's turn is it now? I think the next person to go should start chapter 3."

I think it's Hákon's, it'd be fun to see how 'odd' he is :)

message 39: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Oh, okay. If he's anywhere near as odd as we are then it should be good. :)

Amanda wrote: "Oh, okay. If he's anywhere near as odd as we are then it should be good. :)"

As he hails from the land that brought us Bjork, he should be very odd indeed.

message 41: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Not all of her music is terrible. It is all pretty weird though.

message 42: by Christina (new)

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) | 1213 comments Mod
I like Bjork! But she is definitely an odd bird.

message 43: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments LOL! Was that a swan joke cause it was funny!

message 44: by Amanda (last edited Sep 24, 2014 05:09PM) (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Hákon, I love your post! I'm glad you changed that sentence. It was bugging me a little.
If word gets out about her antiques suspender collection though. What will the town do to her.

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Now I think I better get to bed if I'm going to be of any use at work tomorrow.

Loved the reaction to the Great Dane picture!
Well, we've managed to get to the heart of the case, where to next?
(And no, Amanda, I totally wasn't going for the swan joke, but there it serendipitously is! LOL)

message 48: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Hákon, are you still there? I have a question.

message 49: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments What is the question Amanda?

message 50: by Sue (new)

Sue Perry | 175 comments Oops, sorry guys, I jumped into the story-writing - didn't notice this thread until afterwards. If I disrupted the flow let me know and I can delete my addition.
