It looks like I'm not the only one scratching their head at the corner some of us (I'm not going to name them) have managed to paint us all into here (and I absolutely refuse to just post: 'Finally Luka, in desperation, pulled out his communicator and gasped, "Beam me UP, Scottie!"...THE END.')

You are allowed to go back and edit your previous posts (just a hint).

message 102: by Sue (new)

Sue Perry | 175 comments I'm having an operation later this week. Perhaps the post-op meds will lead to a break-through.

message 103: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Ops, I really didn't mean to paint Luka into a corner. Sorry.

message 104: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Well I hope this gets Luka out of the corner again and the story can continue.

message 105: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Hákon, I wish you'd put yours back. I had just thought of a way to continue it.

message 106: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Okay Amanda, I just put it back in. It will be fun to read the next part. :-)

message 107: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Good. It's going to take me a few minutes to put it together.

message 108: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Took me longer than I thought. The real world kept distracting me. Sorry to everyone who liked the hallucinations.

message 109: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments These people have very interesting culinary traditions. I'm fine with being out of the hallucinations, and now Luka can start working on his case.

message 110: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Yeah, their customs are pretty weird.

Look, I'm a vegan and carrot sauce sounds sketchy. Remind me to never visit this place.

message 112: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I was picturing this carrot and orange juice when I wrote that. I cringed every time I took a drink.

message 113: by Turhan (new)

Turhan Halil | 270 comments Hey Hákon,

I really like the intro of Mr Blue, nice addition to Bigtime!

message 114: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Thanks Turhan. I thought we needed a gangster in this story somewhere.

message 115: by K. (new)

Caffee K. (kcaffee) | 461 comments Heading over to read the (Author's claims, not mine) odd story you all are collaborating on. Is anyone compiling this, by any chance? Maybe for a humor/comedy publication? You are having WAY too much fun writing, from the looks of things.

Jump into the craziness and whip out some magic of your own, luv to hear from ya!

message 117: by K. (new)

Caffee K. (kcaffee) | 461 comments Turhan, I'm not so sure you want me to jump into the craziness. I tend to think like pukah when I really get going. (Though right now, It's more like a Malkavian... even worse.)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments K. wrote: "Heading over to read the (Author's claims, not mine) odd story you all are collaborating on. Is anyone compiling this, by any chance? Maybe for a humor/comedy publication? You are having WAY too much fun writing, from the looks of things."

I have no idea what, if anything, is going to be done with this story, but I'm having fun with it, that's for certain. :-)

message 119: by K. (new)

Caffee K. (kcaffee) | 461 comments I'll go look Hakon, and see if an inspiration strikes. No guarantee, however.

Thanks to everyone for the invite though!

message 120: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Amanda, I thought that was good. Luka just throws caution to the wind. :-)

message 121: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I think you have to when dealing with clown gangsters. :)

message 122: by Richard (new)

Richard | 490 comments Mod
I've heard rumours that Ridley Scott has been trying to acquire the film rights.

message 123: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Bigtime has taken an interesting, and yet also dull, turn. I wonder if they'll let us help with casting.

message 124: by Turhan (new)

Turhan Halil | 270 comments omg, I'm loving this movie ... um story. :)

message 125: by K. (new)

Caffee K. (kcaffee) | 461 comments Well, I tried, but I'm not much good with the romance angle. Maybe one of the more romantic types can rev up that angle again?

Who's got the popcorn?

message 127: by Christina (last edited Oct 31, 2014 07:01PM) (new)

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) | 1213 comments Mod
Oh, and I would cast Ed Norton as Luka, John Malkovitch as the Baroness, and Gary Busey as the clown on the shuttle.

message 128: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I'll bring the popcorn if someone else brings the microwave (mine's broken right now). I'll agree with the Gary Busey as a clown but I would have to cast Josh Duhamel as Luka, Helen Mirren as the Baroness, and maybe Denzel Washington as Mr. Blue.

message 129: by Sue (last edited Nov 01, 2014 08:47AM) (new)

Sue Perry | 175 comments Every movie is better with Helen Mirren in it but I think this piece needs a new role for her because I am head-over-heels with the casting of John Malkovich as the Baroness.

message 130: by K. (new)

Caffee K. (kcaffee) | 461 comments Better find someplace for Cumberbach. (Not sure I spelled the name right.) He's a good one too.

message 131: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments Should we get Halle Berry to play Halle, or would that be too Being John Malkovich?

message 132: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I was going to suggest that but didn't want to be too John Malkovich.

message 133: by Richard (new)

Richard | 490 comments Mod
You missed an opportunity there ("I was going to suggest that, funnily enough,..."). The goal was gaping, as they say.

message 134: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I wasn't having an issue with that word 20 hours ago. This is a recent development.

message 135: by Turhan (new)

Turhan Halil | 270 comments Does anyone know where Salome went, or the whereabouts of the Higgs gun?

message 136: by Turhan (new)

Turhan Halil | 270 comments For anyone that doesn't know, we have an ongoing, wacky, ever plot twisting story, that is begging for your 'artistic license' to get involved and mesmerize us with your story-telling abilities on-the-fly. Turhan Halil | 270 comments Love the next chapter Richard. Awesome! Especially the ending...pretty cool :)

message 138: by Sue (new)

Sue Perry | 175 comments Turns out I missed several chapters while away from internet for a couple weeks. Just got caught up - much fun to read! I'm rooting for Salome at this point. Am I wrong?

Thought I might have messed it all up with my last effort, but that was a nifty bit of footwork Amanda - unbelievably, it does all seem to make sense!

So, just checking that I've followed it correctly:
1 - Salome wants to escape from Bigtime and her overbearing mother, the Baroness. She's trying to force Luka and Halle to help her get away.
2 - Instead, Luka suggests a deal: if Salome helps them nail Blue and Scarlet (and hence save the planet, i.e. thwart their attempt to force the Baroness to give them the lucrative dome contract) in return they'll help her escape.
3 - Salome didn't know Blue and Scarlet have been trying to coerce the Baroness - so readily agrees to the deal.

Hope that's about where we got to.

Ha, Richard, the only ones missing from the room now are the Marx Brothers.... trying to get the vision of Muldoon out of my head...

And I agree that Amanda's regrouping is pretty amazing. It started to seem like there was method and intent behind all the madness.

message 141: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments You really kicked that off Richard. When Salome was in the Palmist building with a gun I knew she was just very unhappy with everything. I thought her rebelling was the obvious choice.

message 142: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments I just read the new post and I was cracking up laughing at all images in my head of all the people and clowns (no I don't think I count them as people) in that room.

message 143: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Lyles (gobbledygook) | 380 comments Sorry about having to edit my last post. I had just gotten off working all night and was watching my niece on no sleep. She kept wanting me to type the word pig over and over. It wasn't until I was alone and had slept that I realized it needed to be edited.

message 144: by Richard (new)

Richard | 490 comments Mod
We should edit the whole thing - then put a cover on it as well and send it through Bettereads!

Yes!

message 146: by Hákon (new)

Hákon Gunnarsson | 283 comments It will be interesting to hear what others have to say about this story, but speaking for myself I've had great fun reading this and writing my little part of it.

Im all for that! If I get a spare moment, I'd be happy to see if I can work up a worthy cover submission.

ETA: I actually have a lovely picture if a vintage clown doll that might make a delightfully sinister background.

Having slept on it (or just come to my senses) I don't think it's such a good idea after all - there isn't an editor on the planet who could get this thing into shape! I still like the idea of jointly writing a story this way (and it is fun), but as for reading it, well, that's a very different matter and it would be interesting to know what (if anything) any of the 34 people who've read at least some of "It was..." made of it.

I still want to mock up a cover. Why take pictures if creepy clowns if they can't be put to use?
