That's the link to the free download for Curran's POV written by Gordon Andrews. Gives a short glimpse into the Beast Lords mind where our Kate is concerned. Very fun read if you enjoyed the book!

No problem! They used to have them on their website but removed them when they updated. I knew people would be interested in reading them, though.

Caryn Lix (missrithenay) | 35 comments It was interesting - thank you! I have to ask though: was anyone else surprised at the writing in this collection? It's very amateurish - comma splices and weird awkward structure everywhere. It actually felt like fanfiction and it made me curious. The novels aren't like this - at all. So when they write together, who does what? Is she the real writer in the duo while he's the plot and character genius? Or do they just have a REALLY good editor? ;)

Stacy (stacybunny) | 24 comments That is something that I noticed as well. I think that the Curran POV collection was just never edited. I have read in an interview that they both write different parts of the books, but I'm not so sure how that works exactly so I don't know if his edited work looks like something more that we'd recognize as being book-worthy. The flow of the books doesn't make it appear that two people are writing it. I think it was earlier this year that they combined all the Curran POV's and put them on Amazon as one free book instead of individual ones so maybe that one is edited.

Lisa (sh0rtchica) | 17 comments I bought them off Amazon - there are two editions of Curran POV. Loved them both and didn't notice any awkwardness, but I may not have been paying close attention. I seriously adore when authors give us this glimpse into another character's mind, and I just kept wishing that there were more. :)

Caryn Lix (missrithenay) | 35 comments This is an example of what I mean:

“Ok, Kate, you win, I could not break out, let me go, and I will give you that hundred bucks I owe you." Kids like money, right?

It just sounds so... Unnatural and child like. Not at all like Curran. Lots of places where they could've used contractions and chose not to, and it makes the dialogue seem strange too.

Of course, I'm picky ;) So it could just be me.

Manda | 13 comments No. I agree. The writing was not high quality. I didn't particularly enjoy the Curran POV stuff for that reason. I think they didn't spend much time on it cause it was just a little bonus.

It reads like a first draft or bad fanfic. I think if you are going to go through the trouble of putting this out there with your name on it, you might want to clean up the punctuation at the very least. I read a lot of amateur fiction, but I had to give up after the first few pages.

This has actually been a question on their Goodreads Ask the Author page. Ilona answered: "We plot together, talk through the scenes, then I write them down with Gordon's input, then he edits them. So if you see it in print, it's a compromise between the two of us."

I think the editor who comes after this process was not consulted on the Curran POVs, which indeed felt rather like bad fanfic.

I think the editor who comes after this process was not consulted on the Curran POVs, which indeed felt rather like bad fanfic. Especially the first volume. The later volumes felt a bit less amateurish, or maybe I just got used to it...
