Gail (appleshoelace) | 1 comments This book is about a child - two children, I think, one boy and one girl - who see green blobs fall to the ground. Everyone else sees these blobs as pink and cute, but this child (maybe both of them) sees the blobs as green and menacing. I think the blobs make a noise, which is unpleasant to these children, but everyone else likes.

(view spoiler)

I read this book about thirty years ago - it was probably quite a recent book at the time, as it was a shiny, colourful library book in good condition. It was a big hardback book, with a white cover with a picture of a child looking down at the pavement at a blob. The illustrations were line drawings with watercolour, I think - and the text was at the bottom of the page. Probably aimed at 7-10 year olds. I think it was a British book.

Ayshe | 4721 comments Robbie and the Blobbies - Bill Tidy seems to be it? From "The Junior Bookshelf" (Marsh Hall, 1982): Large blobs of jelly are falling from the sky. They are pink, endearing, and repeat "We love you. We love you!" Only Robbie realises that the blobs are actually green, menacing, and saying "Take over the world. Take over the world!"

Gail left the group but this seems like a match; moving to Solved.

Just seen this, after doing another google search to see if I can find the book (it's stayed at the back of my mind as an unsolved mystery!) and rejoined the group to say thank you! That is indeed the book. 😊
