SOLVED. Children's book named Maddy(?). [s]

I'm trying to find a children's novel that I'm pretty sure is called "Maddy." It might be from the 60s, and I think it was about the title character tending to a garden behind a large wall..? The details are very fuzzy; I don't think I've read it since my mom read it to me when I was young. And no, I'm not thinking about The Secret Garden lol I remember that the cover of my family's copy of the book had a green border around the hand drawn image of a girl in possibly a tan dress with a hat tied hanging from her neck as she tended to a garden beside a wall. Does anyone else remember this book and who the author was? Thank you! =)
