I'm not surprised the chief and Catherine were both dead. They kept saying Chief Earl Lee Granger was late in returning from his vacay, I thought that was a bad sign. (hide spoiler)]

Man, the writing is so good by this author! It's so descriptive and well done.

I'm really enjoying the 1st book and I've heard that the series only gets better because you'll have the backstory and know all the characters. I'm really glad I finally started this series!

Yeah, it's a bit of shock that the (view spoiler)[Demeter case is already getting solved. Just wait for the next few chapters. You'll see how far down the rabbit hole the Modine and Hyams case ends up going. It made me sick! (hide spoiler)]

Honestly, it feels like two books for me in one book but I'm fine with that. I'm glad to get all the characters and backstory with Parker, Louis, Angel, etc.

By the way, Louis seems(view spoiler)[ like a scary individual. He's definitely a good/bad guy in this. The way he killed Bobby Sciorra was awesome and scary. I would want this cat on my side. hahaha (hide spoiler)]
