SOLVED. Fiction story about Dimensional Traveler. [s]

Fiction or SciFi written in the late 60's or early 70's. The story starts out with a young woman working in a Government experiment. She is able to "Turn a Corner" to enter another dimension but is able to enter for only a few minutes at a time. She realizes that there are sentient beings on "the other side" and leaves the project to protect them.

Fast forward 18 years.

Her son had been raised in both dimensions so was able to tolerate both with no problems. When a Violet-eyed woman appears one day he realizes that she is from his "other" dimension and that her people are trying to communicate with us.
