Time to nominate some books for our next Group read(s) for late fall/early winter 2014. If you nominate a book, be willing to lead the discussion of the book if your book is selected.

So what would you like to nominate for our next Group read? These can be new releases, older releases, popular books, thought provoking books, etc.

We will be running a poll in a few weeks to select our reads from the books nominated.

After she was awarded the Nobel in literature last year, I knew I needed to read this author. So, I bought "Dear Life", but still have not yet read it.

Still looking for nominations for our fall/winter group reads. :-)

message 4: by Petra (new)

Petra I'd love to nominate but am not sure of the time frame. I'm involved in 2 other chunky reads (leading one of them) and am hesitant about (possibly) leading another read.
Sheila, this is for a "regular" sized book (not a chunky)?

Yes, this is for regular (or small) books. Not chunky ones. :-)

Petra I will nominate Thores-Cross by Karen Perkins.

message 7: by Colleen (new)

Colleen @irene - I am reading Dear Life right now for my f2f book club. I'm only on the third story - not sure what to think of it yet.

message 8: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 2175 comments I think I'll suggest The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt. It's been highly recommended to me and I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Amy Neftzger (neftzger) | 240 comments I just read Nest and thought it was very good. I haven't written my review yet, though.

I'm all for reading anything by Alice Munro, as well.

I've been very busy and haven't had time to participate in group reads, and I've missed the discussions. I'm looking forward to being a part of another one!

Time to vote. These are 5 excellent choices, so if we have decent interest, we will read the top 2.

The poll is here:

Here are your choices if you want to check them out before voting:

The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert

Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid

The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt

Thores-Cross by Karen Perkins

Dear Life: Stories by Alice Munro

The Voting is Complete! Our next two Group Reads are

November: Let's Get Lost, by Adi Alsaid
Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid

And for December: The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert
The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert

Our fearless leader for both of these books will be Irene. We will not have a group read for October to give everyone a chance to round up a copy of these, and be ready for the Nov. and Dec. discussions. I'm looking forward to reading both of these.

Irene | 4587 comments When will nominations begin for January reads?

I'll get a thread set up soon. I've been out of town, and now need to get caught up. The discussion of Signature of All Things runs into the beginning of January, and with the craziness of the holidays, we may use the rest of January to let everyone get caught up and start our next new read in February.
