Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
Both of those books are really good! I've reread The Poppy War, and I want to reread Little Fires at some point.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, share a book recommendation written by an AAPI author."I actually think I've not read anything by an AAPI author?
QOTD: What book recommendation would you give to someone wanting to read a book about books/writers?
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, share a book recommendation written by an AAPI author."Manga: Lovesickness by Junji Ito
Graphic novel: Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker
Fantasy: The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
Contemporary: Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
Poetry: Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What book recommendation would you give to someone wanting to read a book about books/writers?"I'd recommend The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What book recommendation would you give to someone wanting to read a book about books/writers?"The Help by Kathryn Stockett
QOTD: Do you like reading someone's annotations and underlined passages in books? Do you like annotating and underlining parts of a book for a future reader to discover?
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you like reading someone's annotations and underlined passages in books? Do you like annotating and underlining parts of a book for a future reader to discover?"NO and NO!! If I see marks or writing on my book I'm gonna flip out lol
I love finding books that have annotations or underlines or even little treasures inside. I found one once that had two bubble gum comics in the pages.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Name a book that starts with the same first letter of your name."Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro – I guess I get double points as well since the title and the author share the same first letter as me.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What's your favorite memoir? Why?"Does Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey count? It was just a fun read, and I got to learn more about the roles he played in movies. I learned about how he met his wife, and what his family was like while he was growing up.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What's your favorite memoir? Why?"The Paths We Choose: A Memoir by Sully Erna. Sully told the story of his early life and starting Godsmack. I enjoyed how he told about his struggles and how he kept pushing on.
Also
Confessions of a Prairie Bitch: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated by Alison Arngrim. I loved Little House on the Prairie when I was a kid. It was great to read about Alison's experiences. She also included her home life and struggles.
Both authors seemed to be up front about their lives. And both told interesting, entertaining stories.
Science fiction: All Systems Red by Martha Wells or Skyward by Brandon Sanderson.Fantasy: The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune.
Mistborn was really good too. A bit more on the serious side.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your dream travel destination? Why?"England! Always, always England. London specifically, but the whole country. I've been a massive Anglophile since I first discovered Austen at a very young age. I have no clue why to be honest. My heritage is majorly English from the London area, so that could be why i'm so drawn to it.
Greece or Italy. I love churches/cathedrals, art museums, old architecture, ancient ruins, and history, and both are loaded w/ all of these.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What's something you tried really hard to like but just couldn't?"A million things! Comic Books, Dave Matthew's Band, Sci-fi novels, kale lol
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you enjoy snail mail? (i.e., handwritten letters, holiday cards, etc.)"Love it! But I agonize over how long it takes.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your favorite science fiction and/or fantasy book(s)? Why?"My favorite fantasy book is The Invisible Life of Addie Larue.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your dream travel destination? Why?"Italy – I love the culture, the architecture, the language, the food, everything! I love watching movies set in Italy and I have always dreamed of going there.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What's something you tried really hard to like but just couldn't?"I'm sure I could list many things for this but the first thing that came to mind is matcha. I know many people love it but I can't stand the taste of it.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you enjoy snail mail? (i.e., handwritten letters, holiday cards, etc.)"I love snail mail! I enjoy writing to penpals and sending cards to people in the mail. I also love receiving snail mail.
Dawn wrote: "Am in several postcard groups, so yes."Oh wow! I need to check into postcard groups. I love to penpal so getting into postcards would be fun. Where do you get your postcards to send out?
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: How would you spend your ideal day?"I'd start with a delicious brunch, spend hours at a really cool museum like The Met, then end with an even more delicious dinner lol
You can find postcards at most bookstores, a lot of touristy places and attractions, some travel centers/gas stations, and of course Amazon.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What is your favorite part of your daily routine?"LOL - I fully understand that Vivian!
I don’t really have a daily routine.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you enjoy snail mail? (i.e., handwritten letters, holiday cards, etc.)"Yes! I love receiving and sending snail mail. I was on TikTok and just a video about artist trading cards to make and trade which would be so fun!
