I do not remember much else about the plot - other than it was funny and suspenseful. This book is NOT based on a true story.

MG - YA Fiction novel with Turtle art on the cover About a young man who moves to a new town and encounters a mythic turtle of local legend - mythology - at the climax of the story. This book was featured as a Barnes & Noble Advanced Reader Copy when I was employee there. The publication year would be between 2008 and 2010 and the author's name - I believe started with an L - S because I remember it was shelved near the Harry Potter books.
