4th of July.... Kickstarter..

The Magician’s Skull speaks again

https://www.backerkit.com/call_to_act...

The blurb:

Rejoice, mortals! The immortal Skull has heard your pleas and returned to grant your greatest desire: more sword-and-sorcery!

Heed the call of the immortal Skull, and prepare to make your pledge. The Skull has told the publisher known as Goodman to launch his Kickstarter on Thursday, July 4th. Tell the publisher that you're committed.

John Hocking | 25 comments The Skull is up and rolling and has already almost doubled its goal.

I honestly never thought I'd see the day that we'd have a big glossy illustrated magazine devoted entirely to sword & sorcery fiction. That couldn't be sustained even back in the 1970's.
And not only are a couple more issues in the works, they're now offering subscriptions.

John Hocking | 25 comments More power to anyone willing to back the Skull. The mag's production values are amazing but I think it's still flying under the radar for most fantasy fans.
The Kickstarter updates, most by the Skull himself, are pretty damn funny, but the latest few have our imperious undead host apparently replaced by an impostor whose creative vision is drastically at odds with that of the Skull. And these are hilarious. The creators are clearly having a blast and it's pretty infectious.

The interns under the skull are having a tough experience

John Hocking | 25 comments Some cool stretch goals have been added and I believe there are more to come.

Now featured in the updates are several essays about Sword and Sorcery which I recommend even if you have no interest in the Kickstarter itself.

William King wrote about his favorite Sword and Sorcery story and C.L. Werner turned in an excellent look at REH's Valley of the Worm.

I wrote a little piece on my favorite Sword and Sorcery book cover. With all due love for the greatest fantasy artist of all time, the cover was not painted by Frank Frazetta.

Only three days left on the Kickstarter.
If you like this genre enough to be here reading this you owe it to yourself to at least take a little look.

Richard | 817 comments Why is issue 2 of the Magicians Skull not available on Amazon? Am I overlooking it?

Because it's not available at all. It's been sold out. I looked for a copy myself off & on all week. In fact, if any of y'all reading this have an extra copy or know of someplace I haven't looked and I've looked everywhere please contact me. But maybe contact Richard first since he asked first! ;)
*Willing to pay up to $50 for a paperback edition.
