Stone/pebble placed on shadow and told you cannot move

In the late 1970s, early 1980s , I read a short story in my middle school English literature textbook about a (girl) who was bullied. She believed what she was told. A (boy) placed a stone/pebble on (her) shadow and told her now she can't move. Later in the story she gets even.
