message 13: by Casey (new)

Casey | 654 comments I'm pleased with the diversity.
Also, I really like that I'm not overly familiar with all the authors. Can't wait to pick some of their work up and give it a go.

Side note.
Not certain why, but
After glancing through these author alphabets, I get the wonderfully odd mental image of a human bookshelf. Authors, as tucked away marionettes, resting, arms and legs spilling over smooth planked shelves, waiting to be slid down, their strings pulled.

Clyde (wishamc) | 572 comments Humm ... Limiting myself to one writer per letter:

Anderson, Poul

It seems there aren't many U's, X's, and Y's in the SF&F 'verse.
And yes, Louis L'Amour has written SF&F (with a western touch of course).

Yes, in the SF&F 'verse, he is of course the big N. But I figured the majority would list Niven; so, I thought to give Linda Nagata a nod.

No problem.
But for the record, the intent was to choose a single author for a given letter, giving gravity to our decisions. We could all plunk down as many authors for each letter as we can think of or find, but having to make a decision... is more interesting (and reveals more about us as individuals).

Well, I did an amended list, and I must admit that I didn't read the top post very carefully because it was very late and I was tired.

Oh, it's fine :)
Besides, you had a great list.,
I mean think about this for a sec. This thread consists of nothing but lists of authors. How cool is that?!
