I hate how short all my chapters are!! It seems like I cannot write a long chapter. Anyone else have this problem?

message 154: by Zac (new)

Zac (zacthesnarkyrambler) | 13 comments Oh, yes. Yes, yes, yes. High Heavens, yes. It's impossible for me to write long chapters, Lena. It's terribly depressing. I can't hardly ever seem to get a chapter over, like, 5 pages. I feel for you. *sympathetic fist bump*

I KNOW!!!!!! Ugh, it's awful!!! :'(

My writer-mind must be ADD...

Zac (zacthesnarkyrambler) | 13 comments Yeah, mine too!!! (I think my whole being is ADD though...lol)

message 157: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Well, that's not entirely bad. I actually prefer to read books with short chapters. I like to stop either at the end of a chapter or at a break in the chapter. if the chapters are short, I'll keep reading just one more, or pick it up when I only have a short time to read. It takes me longer to get through books with long chapters

That's a good point, Rebecca! But I think my chapters are even too short to be just short.... Like, one or two pages... -__-

Short chapters may be used with extreme effect -- especially if one is of a mind to design them as mini-cliff hangers.

Merenwen Inglorion | 39 comments Suggestion for a game thread:
Writer's truth or dare.
(I have no idea how to start a thread... :P)

Someone requests a truth or dare. Next person gives the requested; truth/dare, and requests one of their own (if they are so inclined).

Example of truth:
What's your character's most embarrassing moment?

Example of dare (fantasy):
Write a scene in which a dragon decides that your character would taste good with ketchup.

Hi. D.L.Herring back after a long absence. Well, I had to close my E-store, The InkTree. My books will be out of circulation for a while. I experienced a vast wasteland controlled by middlemen -- each a troll jealously guarding his bridge. I had neither the health points or enchanted armor to sustain the battle, and since my only weapon was a pen, I made no lasting impression. That is almost a tale in itself.
