Trying to remember book (and series) I read a long time ago. It involved magic and dragons, and I remember the dragons in the book could communicate with the magicians. There was one particular book where the dragons had to complete a challenge where they had to carry a heavy log to prove something, and I also remember that when the magicians used magic It was described as if they were pulling strings of magic out of the air, or weaving magic out of the air.
