Hi, in the nineties, I think, I bought a box set of 2 books and an audio cassette all by the same author. I cannot remember many details. Two youngsters, a brother and sister went to live with someone - I think an uncle. They were either next to a churchyard or there was a burial place in the grounds. The girl was a little older than the boy possibly. I only remember part of the ending- they went into a crypt and through a door into a passageway. There was something creepy down there and somehow the boy ended up blind and/or dead. Not much to go on, sorry.

There was something about an animatronic swan and I remember a quote that went "her heart fluttered in her chest like a bird under a blanket"
The quote does not ring a bell or the swan but my memory of it all is pretty sketchy. Cannot seem to find The Magic Shop anywhere, but this was definitely an adult book.
It was actually called the magic toy shop and everything else seems the same, two siblings living with an uncle. The uncle is a toy maker and he is not pleasant and this is definitely an adult book, there is a part about self discovery (female anatomy type of a deal) and I remember at one point she is up a tree and in a tunnel I believe.
