Hi, I read a short story at least 15 years ago and I remember it was in a style similar to Tales Of The Unexpected. It was in a book with other short stories. The main character was a man going out for a walk in the evening. I think the weather was rainy, but not sure now. He was going over the events that had just taken place - he was absolutely sick of the person he lived with, I think it was his wife but it may have been a sister. He detailed that he had killed her ( I do not remember how) and he was imagining that the police would have arrived by now and what would happen. He returns to face the music but she is not dead, it was all in his mind.

SamSpayedPI | 2300 comments Roald Dahl wrote many short stories for adults; they're not all collected in Tales of the Unexpected. Try Someone Like You and Kiss Kiss; they are available from The Internet Archive.

Rose | 30 comments Thank you. I do not know that it was actually Roald Dahl, but it was in that style.
