I saw this book just recently but have already forgotten the title. It's about a young introverted boy who dreams of inventing scientific gadgets for his school (I think one of the items on his list was a teleporter). The school wants to segregate the students into girls and boys or some such thing. He just wants to accept people as they are without such silly nonsense. As I recall, the cover was a drawing of the boy apparently levitating over the floor. I think.

I really want to read this book but I can't recall title or author. I hope this description is enough to help.

It's a tween book (not for children but not YA either). It's set in modern times. I can't describe the inventions because I haven't read the book. I want to read it but can only recall the details I've already stated.

After all this time, I finally found this book! It's titled Waylon! One Awesome Thing by Sara Pennypacker.
