Stacia (staciakj) | 11 comments This may be a weird one.

In 1982 I read a paperback that I checked out of the local library (in Alma, Kansas) of what I now know was the novelization of the movie FOXES (1980) starring Jodie Foster. The cover looked like this DVD cover except it's possible the cover was a painted rendition of the photo, but the font on the title was exactly the same big pink 80s font.

The story was about a group of teen girls falling for boys, dating, getting into spats, and the only scenes I remember are one point when the book abruptly cuts to a character in bed after losing her virginity, scrambling to find her glasses so she can call a friend, who feels awkward about the whole thing, and a second scene at the end where someone is visiting a grave. Both are exactly like they're depicted in the movie.

The thing is, I can't find any evidence the book ever existed, and I don't think the title was Foxes but I can't be sure. I didn't realize it was a movie until sometime around 2010 and since then I've tried off and on to find the book, but no luck.

Searching on the title and the name of the movie characters has yielded nothing, and searching books written by the screenwriter also yielded nothing.

Anyone have any info? Thank you!

Foxes by Dewey Gram

Found searching "novelisation" "movie foxes" (I couldn't find anything with "novelization" so I tried the British spelling!)

Stacia (staciakj) | 11 comments You found it, thank you! And so fast. I can't even find that post in a search knowing all the keywords for it, holy cats.

Thank you, I really appreciate it!

Mai | 1280 comments If you google "novelisation" "movie foxes" (don't forget the " "!) it should be the first result!

You're welcome! :-) I hope you can find a copy!

Stacia (staciakj) | 11 comments Dadburnit, I was spelling it "novelization" but most of the websites that have copies are in the UK.

Ingo (ilembcke) | 669 comments Glad you found your book, my suggestion would have been to check IMDB, but they do not have that book listed for this movie.

My guess is, that it was because of the novelization / novelisation and mostly for the UK?
Strange one, would have thought this was easier to find, even with the different spelling for the key search word, will look out for this if it happens to me.

I would suggest using your library's inter-library loan. It's amazing what old, hard to find books they can locate!

Sandra | 336 comments My goodness, I had that book, and I read it over and over! Would you believe I only recently saw the movie on YouTube, and I was about 15 when the movie came out. Always was a big Jodie Foster fan.
