Just checking in to say good night. Great work on bucket #1!I completed the Kickoff game and read 115 pages tonight before my Kindle died. (6/7)
I finished 101 pages of The Magnolia Story making my total for today (6/7) 309 pages. Goodnight and great job today everyone!
I finished Vinyl Detective: Flip Back, which is just a cute cozy mystery. I really enjoyed as shown by the fact that I finished it in an evening. I read 520 pages today for my two books. In my defense I have no life.
Flip Back takes place in England if we need Europe as a continent. Also, it was published in 2019 if we are on Bucket 3.
My 6/7 total is 347.I have about 125 pages left in my current read which I can finish tomorrow or Sunday depennding on bucket timing. It would work for published in 2019 or new to me author.
Good work everyone and good night!
It looks like we've met the 3000 page count for bucket 3 and we can use Shelley's Flip Back book for a Europe setting, but I'm nowhere near finishing Nine Perfect Strangers for an Australian setting (only about 160 of 496 pages!), so if anyone else is finishing a book set on a continent other than Europe, feel free to claim that spot!! Although Emily's reading the same book, and she sounds quicker than me, and she'll be waking up soon, so she might get this one...
Good morning! I am reading a Murakami book that works for Asian setting, but I have a ways to go, so someone's continent will probably be faster.

We'll still be in Europe even if we leave the EU :) There are lots of European countries that are not in the EU as they are two different things and we can't change geography, no matter how much some people would like it.
Ellie wrote: "We'll still be in Europe even if we leave the EU :) There are lots of European countries that are not in the EU as they are two different things and we can't change geography, no matter how much some people would like it..."That's true, but I wasn't sure whether some people would rather treat Britain as a separate entity to Europe, or how PC it would be to assume that everyone should always include Britain as part of the continent of Europe!
It's getting late for me, so I'm calling it quits for the second day. I haven't finished any books :-(
I've read:
245 pages in Nine Perfect Strangers (about 160 pages to finish)
81 pages (equivalent - audio) in A Night Divided (this is one I started today, so I may not even finish it this week - although if it's needed for a particular task, I could just do more exercise and crocheting than I would normally so that I can listen to it!)
Total of 326 pages today
Whew! I slept for 10 hours, feel like a champ, and reading to sit around all day reading hahaha!
I have updated the spreadsheet through here.
As of now, we have 1 more question to ask for games. I will be finishing Nine Perfect Strangers this morning, and when I complete that, we will be done with Bucket 2!
So I think the question we agreed to ask for the games is:
Is our author American?

I’m currently reading The Western Star by Craig Johnson, which is 303 pages. That seems to be it for bucket 2, but it’s an audiobook and I’m also reading several print books, so it might work for bucket 3.
Sweet!
Ok so I've just finished Nine Perfect Strangers, so we are finished with Bucket 2! We need to decide what question we'd like to ask now that we know our author is an American female (which pretty much guarantees they wrote books in the 20th or 21st century).

I woke up early and finished The Gown: A Novel of the Royal Wedding but I see we are done with bucket 2. Yay!I read this on Kindle so it could work for bucket 3.
Wooo great timing as I have just finished Aurora Rising which is published this year so works for bucket three.Go us!
This may be a bit off-beat for a question, but it could help us narrow things down.Does our deceased American female author have a last name that begins with M-Z?
Still working to finish up a couple books started before the read-a-thon. Will report the # of pages when those are done.. then on to contributing to the prompts for this.

I completed the I love books (Book Reader) activity. Now I have to haul some brush before it gets beastly hot... and then back to reading.
Im down to just 20 pages in Those People. It is an Advanced Reader Copy /print format, publishing in 2019 (on Tuesday).I'll hold off finishing until we're on bucket 4 (the author is new to me) unless you want me to finish for bucket 3. :)
I slept in today (I’m in MST so it’s only 1030 here, I’m not terribly lazy) and y’all got a lot done while I was asleep. I’ll start working on The Tempest and get back to The Magnolia Story later since it looks like we’re getting through bucket 3 relatively quickly.
Found this list of 100 greatest books by female authors which may be helpful when we get this narrowed down some more. It includes a number of non-American, alive authors that we can dismiss.https://www.listchallenges.com/102gre...
Ok so our question for Bucket 2 will be:
Does the author have a last name starting with M-Z?
We've also finished another set of questions for the game, but we can wait until we get the answer from this one to decide... I like Edie's option of using a list.
Deborah, feel free to finish your book today! I have a feeling we won't have a problem filling the new-to-me author prompt!

Well life got in the way of reading yesterday. So my total pages right now is only 93. I will be able to get more done today so hope I have a finished book soon. Finished The Book Reader Problem Tag
I read 65 more pages on 6/7, and today I have read 120 so far. No books completed yet :-)I’ll check back in when I’ve finished the prompt
Thanks Katie!
So an update:
We are one book (published in 2019) and 200 pages shy of finishing Bucket 3!
The Prompts to Fill list I posted above is a suggested list... it's people who have told me they can cover one of the prompts. If you finish a book that fills a prompt before someone else does, feel free to post it and I'll slot it in! That's the best way to keep us moving forward... I don't want anyone to have to stall in the Read-A-Thon because we are waiting for someone who isn't checking in regularly.
That being said, I have added a Planning tab to our spreadsheet. When you start a book, please post what prompts it applies to, and I'll add it to the planning tab... that way, we can get an idea of who is reading what, and which prompts we may need more help with! (Stolen directly from Team Ladybug's spreadsheet)
We still have a couple people who haven't checked in with page numbers from yesterday! Please do that! And also, look over what I put on the spreadsheet because there's a lot of messages that come through and I may miss yours.

Whew... so we can forget Willa Cather, Maya Angelo, Louisa May Alcott. But women like Edith Wharton, Virginia Wolff are still in the running. And on the reading front 79 pages to finish up The City in the Middle of the Night
Now I can start reading The Silver Star which could count as a ATY read or a book published in June or a blue covered book.
I am going to start All the Names They Used for God which is a new to me author. It is about 250 pages so I should finish it today.I am then going to read In Other Words by Jhumpa Lahiri which is a memoir so it could fit as the main character name beginnin J, U, N or E, Again this is a short book so I should be able to finish tomorrow.
The Poisoner's Handbook: Murder and the Birth of Forensic Medicine in Jazz Age New York- completed this one. Read 141 pages. Works for a book written by a women or new to you author
I finished Those People which works for pub in 2019.Ive also read 240 pages so far today. I think this means we can count bucket 3 as done?
I'm now working on The Bell Jar which is for an ATY prompt, has a character whose name begins with E and my edition has a green cover, so lots of options depending on where we are with buckets!
For another question do we want to segment the possible last names again. Something like:Does the author's last name start with M-R (or we could ask about S-Z)? I think there will be more possibles in the S-Z group, but lots of last names start with M, N and P.
Sweet! I've updated everything!
We have finished Bucket 3! We now have two questions we can now ask! How do y'all want to go about asking?
Should we see if they appear on lists? Should we focus on what they actually wrote (number, genre, plot)? Would we rather focus on their lives?
EDIT: I like what you're saying Edie... and we have plenty of questions left for us to narrow it down.
So our next question will be:
Does our author's last name start with a letter between M-R?
