Or maybe we could ask if the author has wrote any non-fiction books?

- The Red Queen: Sex and the Evolution of Human Nature (though it might be better not to stress Marie out right now!)
- The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time (if we count Staten Island as our island)
- George (if we don't count Staten Island as our island)
- We are the Perfect Girl
- The Book of Strange New Things
- Another Brooklyn

Sounds good, we'll save George for 2 words in case Hannah wants to read it (it's very quick, I almost accidentally finished it last night!).
We do have a lot of island options.

I like the genre idea. Which should we pick?

Traci, you're doing a great job with asking the questions! I think we often need to ask them one or two at a time, so we can use the answer to work out what to ask next.

I've just got home from work and I have no plans for the evening except reading :)
I have started George, and I'll get it finished tonight, unless I need to leave the last chapter until we have an island book, so that would be the two words prompt finished.

I was also thinking of "has she been nominated for a Goodreads Choice award?" But maybe that's too specific.

Grave Mercy = 135 pages today (remaining pages = 90)
Glory in Death = 60 pages today (remaining pages = 59 pages remaining)
The Red Queen: Sex and the Evolution of Human Nature 405 pages
will add pages to spreadsheet

I probably won’t have time to also work on the summer prompt.

I haveA Dangerous Act of Kindness which i could do with reading for another challenge
or
All Among The Barley
some of those words should be ok to find matches for
they are both historical fiction so don't think they will have plot twists
I haven't got anything to match The Book of Strange New Things that Sara suggested
I do have ones with "girl" in are you still reading that Tatra?

..."
I think Hannah and Traci are reading George.

And if someone else does finish a debut book first, song of achilles works for a recommended book too

I don't think the non-fiction/fiction one would be as helpfully.

Such as has she published a book in "2017, 2018, or 2019"

I think Traci has very nearly finished George, and I will finish it in the next hour or so. Maybe even less if I don’t spend much time looking through GR. I’ll check back in when I have finished.

I like both of these suggestions. I think I would ask about the GR awards first, because we could then make a list out of living, female American GR choice nominees, and then narrow it down based on year/genre.

I've got an audiobook of Cartes Postales from Greece, which would work for a book with a romantic element. It's a book of short stories, and so doesn't fit any of the other prompts. I don't think I've got anything for the other prompts, but I'll have a look.

Do we have any more questions left? If we could ask one now, that might speed up the list making.
For example
Were they nominated for a GR choice award in 2013 or before / in 2014 or after?
Were they nominated for categories X? If we include half of the categories, with a mix of more and less likely categories, we would be able to eliminate more authors.

9. Bucket 12 - Was she nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award in 2014 or later?

I asked it, we have 2 more questions already earned and will have another once we have a debut novel (I haven't checked if we already do).
I can work on whittling the list this evening, thanks for starting that Hannah!

Traci, I have put in all the female authors with surnames starting A-F who were nominated in 2017 and 2018. I also added the award they were nominated for, the year, and if they won or not. I decided to leave duplicate authors, so that if we ask questions based on year or genre, we don't accidentally overlook someone. What I've not yet finished, is going through checking whether the authors were all born in the US ad after 1975. If you could help with any of this, or authors from other years, that would be great :)

That would cover YA, middle school and children’s.

I was just logging on to say the same thing!
I'm going to focus on the goodreads awards to avoid the issue if she writes both adult and children's books and add graphic novels to the kid side to get a little more even distribution.
I should just leave work now.

10. Games 11 - Was she nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award in any of the following categories in 2014 or later: graphic novel&comic, Middle Grade/Childrens, Picture Books, YA fiction, YA sci fi, YA fantasy?

Kavitha - we finished the two books with a matching word prompt. I like your willingness to cover both parts though!

That got filled but we still need "A debut novel" for bucket 13.

Just a heads up, I am now adding more buckets to each team. Please update the spreadsheet accordingly :)

I'm also planning to start reading [book:The Woman in ..."
I think that should work. It has been awhile since I read it but I think it fits with thrillers having twists.
