Hi Ajay,
I merged the two profiles, and kept the one with the name Chinmayananda Saraswati, which has a photo and description, and mentions the other name by which he is known, Swami Chinmayananda.
Which of the two names would be better to keep as a profile name? Is Swami a title or a name?

Swami is the title we give to guru or teacher or well learned person. His full name is Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati. But all his books are published in the name of 'Swami Chinmayananda'. So i think Swami Chinmayananda will be better instead of Chinmayananda Saraswati.

Ok, I changed the name on the author profile to Swami Chinmayananda to avoid confusion! :) The description still mentions the full "official" name.

581 and 582 - Verity, The editions are separate because they are attributed to different author profiles (Cixin Liu / Liu Cixin). The profiles need to be merged, but since Liu Cixin is a Goodreads author, only a Goodreads staff member can do that. I've sent a request already that the profiles be merged. Then I can combine the editions of all the books that were attributed to the "wrong" profile.

Hi D.L.
I moved the book into your profile. The reason that happened (and will probably happen again with future books) is that part of Goodreads data is automatically imported from various sources. In the case of your book, the entry came from Ingram, a Book Distributor. Since the data comes automatically from them, it is fed into Goodreads the way it is in their database. And I suppose in that database you are DL Lang and not D.L. Lang. So everytime there's a new book - a new ISBN - it gets uploaded into Goodreads automatically and a new author, DL Lang, is created. :/ Quite annoying for you, I can imagine.
I'm not Goodreads staff so I'm not the expert, but as I understand it, a solution would be for you to add the books yourself as soon as you know the ISBN. If I understand it correctly, the data imported is based on the ISBN, so if there's already a book on Goodreads with that ISBN, the data won't be imported.
I THINK that's how it works, but like I said, I'm not an expert. You could contact Goodreads staff to see what they tell you about that!

All his books are published in the name of 'Swami Chinmayananda'. If someone upload his books in the name of Swami Chinmayananda, it will automatically create new profile. His books will not be upload in Chinmayananda Saraswati.

Hi rivka,

I know the title shouldn't be included in the name, but if the author publishes only under the name Swami Chinmayananda, one wouldn't know to look for Chinmayananda Saraswati if looking for that author or for a book of his. To avoid confusion, doesn't it make sense to have Swami Chinmazananda as the name on the profile?

Hi Ajay. I can't figure out if the book on the first link (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...) is really a different edition of the second one because of the volumes. Are they both a combination of volumes 1-10?
