I think it was contemporary to when it was written, so maybe mid or late 90s? Location: nothing specific comes to mind, but it didn't feel like they were in or near a big city.

I found this description of the book on Novelist
While visiting her father, a TV producer, in Beverly Hills, Lucy becomes a stunt rider for his series, "Malibu," but the entire cast is threatened by a series of dangerous "accidents."
Hopefully, this is OP's book

It was about a girl whose parents were divorced or split up. It must've taken place while the girl was on break from school, but I can't remember what time of the year it was. At the time, she's visiting her father, who is working on a movie set for a movie featuring a famous young actress. One scene involves some kind of chase on horse back and the girl gets to be the stunt rider for that scene because she's grown up around horses/is a really good rider (her father might own stables) and because she's only a few years younger than the actual actress.
I don't remember the core plot, but I think it revolved around threatening or killing the main actress. I think there were some accidents on set, but I can remember if there were any deaths.
There was some sort of party or gathering with the people working on / part of the film. The girl was there and she heard the adults discussing some kind of video tape connected to the young actress. They had a specific name for the kind of tape it was and apparently if it got out it would be embarrassing for her or ruin her career or something. (I was confused by this part because I didn't know what kind of tape they were talking about.)
The "bad guy" winds up being a guy whose name I think was Mark. I don't remember his motivation, but there was a creepy part where the girl is in the car with him and he's either explaining his motives or something he says/does makes it obvious to the girl he's the one responsible for all the bad things happening. "Mark" also had a habit of correcting people when they asked "Can I...?", telling them to say "May I...?" instead and always explained it away that one of his parents was either an English teacher or an author, I believe.
Sorry I don't remember more of the main plot! Any help at all would be great!
