2019 Group Reading Challenge

Yah, going to do exactly that now, this should be interesting.

While LitRPG normally takes place within a game with "crunchy" numbers, Gamelit is a higher level umbrella term that can encompass non-game settings that have game like structures.
An example of this is Tao Wong's apocalypse series, or any of the other post-apocalyptic series as well as Dan Sugralinov's Level Up series.

Things that don't qualify as LitRPG certainly can qualify as gamelit, and that would have a much larger range of acceptable categories, but some people refuse to believe there's any distinction between the two, and that just irritates me into incoherent fits of rage at their complete lack of brain power when applied to the definition of LitRPG as stated by it's inventor, but again, that's just me, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, regardless whether I agree or not.
Good thing then that this is the Gamelit/LitRPG challenge then ;)
Anyways, I'm in agreement with you in so far as Gamelit and LitRPG are two different things, but the definition of Gamelit encompasses what LitRPG is whilst the opposite is not true.

You can add additional read dates by editing your review if you read a book multiple times. It seems like it should count then.
Yeah, the way it's setup should indeed pick up any book read in 2019, as long as it is in the folder you specify.
This is from the Reading challenge main page (if you click on your "read X of at books")
MISSING BOOKS?
You can easily add books to this list by setting the Date Read for each book to any time in 2019.
Are you re-reading? That counts too!

Like I said, we aren't going to be auditing, but we're looking for Novella sized minimum. We can always add a separate challenge for graphic novels if there's interest.

counts???"
I would say no, but I haven't read the series so I don't know if the world is gamefied.

Got it.

Definitely worth reading! But not Gamelit :( The games are based on the books (not sure how closely b/c I'm still on the first game)

My books>Read
Under the "read" tag, there's an "edit" link under it. Click on that and type a shelf name that you would like to use there. Then you just need to add the other books to that same shelf after retroactively.
Going forward, you can do it when you finish reading the book.

Here's the link again. Another way to get to it is from the main page of the group. It's the first thing right under the banner and the schpeal about the group. If you click on the title, it will take you to the place where you can set your shelf and number of books.

Just follow the link and at the bottom of the challenge you'll see a place to pledge the number of books and a place to type the shelf that the challenge should be looking at. Then it will automagically find all the books in that folder that have a reading date in 2019.
For example, I have a shelf called LitRPG where all the Gamelit/LitRPG/dungeon books I read get shelved in. That is the shelf I selected and the challenge pulled all 66 books out of the 75 I've read so far this year that were Gamelit/LitRPG/dungeon by its lonesome.

While Forge of Destiny is definitely wuxia, it was written as a quest so it must be litrpg, right?

This.
This.
I thought game lit counted too?
The group reading challenges require the desktop version of the website, otherwise it defaults to your personal one.

Do the DragonLance books qualify as GameLit? Seems to me they should since it was an offshoot of D&D back in the day and was even published by TSR.
But wanted to check to see if anyone disagrees before I start logging hours/pages on those.

Okay. No problem.
Okay. No problem.

It isn't what I typically think of as Gamelit, but I could see it fitting in. Just looking for a second opinion.
(BTW, I'm only about 20% through, but it's good so far)

I'm curious to hear your opinion on books that start in a game world that becomes real then. Like Chaos Seeds series in which the video game was designed as a way to bring humans to the alternate world that functions exactly like the game. It has all the levels, stats... that the game did, but is no longer a game technically.
Would those books still be considered LitRPG's then?
