Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments The September/October Author of the Month is Nalini Singh

BIO
I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

On Me

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated frequently).

So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.

Arielle Rae Aguilar | 161 comments I absolutely love Nalini! Have read and reread almost all her books and now I'm waiting to read her new contemporary romance :)
I also met her in real life and she was super nice

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments She seems like she is rather humble. I really like how her stories seem to have a sense of familiarity but yet each one is unique if that makes sense.

Cassie's Lost Fallen Angel of the Reading Stars (lostfalenangelofthemoonsstarz) | 6 comments ZOMG! The Guild Hunter series, I have no words. Beautifully written, full of romance and adventure. And I hope it continues on with the surprising twists and turns that Ms. Singh writes out in each and every book she continues to publish. She is one of my favorite authors. And continues to surprise me as each book is released.

Sandra | 4734 comments Nalini is one of my fav authors. She surprises with some books being very emotional and others are so sweet.

message 6: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Poole | 2 comments I hadn't read any of her work until I joined this group. Now I'm reading the second of The Guild Hunter series and really enjoying them. Thanks for the recommendation!

message 7: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Oh just bought book 2 & 3 in that series. Looking forward to that. I think I might prefer it to the Psy-changling series.

message 8: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments @Stacy I am glad you liked her :-)

@Lisa I love the Guild Hunter series and it is my favorite.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I really like her Psy-Changling series, but her Guild Hunter ones had to grow on me. I like them, but not as much as everyone else seems to.

Funny I always think more people prefer the Psy-changling series to Guild Hunter.

I think it just depends on which one you've read first, since people might feel a kind of loyalty to it...

message 12: by Arielle Rae (new)

Arielle Rae Aguilar | 161 comments I love both of them but I prefer the Psy-Changeling series... One of the reasons may be because I like PNR a wee bit more than UF, and the Guild Hunter series is more Urban Fantasy-ish

message 13: by Lisa (new)

Lisa I don't know. I've read the first in the Guild Hunter, and the first two in Psy-Changling. But I think I still preferred Guild Hunter. Lucky we don't all like the same things, otherwise recommendations would be pretty boring, haha.

message 14: by Veronica (new)

Veronica Rosa (veronicadelrosa) I've enjoyed both her Psy-Changling series and the Guild Hunter series, although for different reasons. :) I'm more of a PNR fan with tendencies towards UF.

With Guild Hunter, I love the action and almost constant state of movement. Psy-Changling lets us know the characters and slowly unravels the tale.

Some of the books have been a miss for me, such as Mercy's story, but most I really liked.
