I'm very tempted by The Luminous Dead - is it scary?

I just finished The Last by Hanna Jameson. I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed it."
I loved The Last!

The Luminous Dead is claustrophobic and psychologically suspenseful. I loved it.

Hadn't heard of this one. Picked it up because I saw it here. Really interesting storytelling and a quick read. Thanks for the tip!

Parts of TLD I absolutely LOVED. My biggest issue was the dialogue got super repetitive.

I'm done and it's getting four stars. It was an interesting take on the vampire condition and there's a killer who is disgusting and I loved it, haha. I recommend.

I loved TBG! I've enjoyed the rest of the series too (reading book 4 right now), but the first book is really one of my favorite thrillers of all time.

I think that's the only complaint I would have. There were a few things (not just the dialogue) that were repetitive. But yeah, I loved it. :)

That looks interesting. It sounds strange in a great way.

I'm really enjoying it so far. The writing is great and they're a lot like episodes of The Twilight Zone. I'm iffy on science fiction but these tales are striking a chord with me.

I love the writing style of Darcy Coates and the way she can weave those ghostly tendrils around you while you are sitting in a quiet house. I usually read on my kindle, so I am normally sitting in the dark with just the back light of my kindle. Spooky!
The first book I just read over a year ago and I loved Craven Manor! The second book was my first introduction to Darcy back in 2016. I have read more books by her which I will post later as I want to share some other women authors on this post. :)

I love Amy Cross as she will grab you from the first chapter and then slam dunk you into the story. Then you are trapped forever in the pages of the book!
The Ghost of Molly Holt was a creepy and haunting ride and the first part of the book has some disturbing things within so if your sensitive to that kind of thing then tread carefully, but most of it was about the haunting of Molly Holt.
The Bride of Ashbyrn House is a spooky thrill ride which I read in the quiet of the night on my kindle. Also I read it before bed which probably wasn't a good thing! lol

Just started this one and love it so far. I minored in film studies and love reading nonfiction books about cinema. I've also already had rage feels over everyday sexism in the workplace.

I think you're going to love it. I read it and enjoyed it. It was both infuriating and fascinating. I know Toni of LOHF loved it.

Oh it's a series! Thanks for the heads-up! She's new to me but I'm already intrigued enough to look for more. :)

I grabbed that one too. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying it.

Ooh--a "new-to-me" author!

Update: LOVED all 4 of these stories! Margaret Killjoy's was the only one that could properly be classed as horror, but I am trying to diversify my genres and so the SFF in the other three wasn't unwelcome. (I still don't gravitate to fantasy, which is where the final two stories landed, but these pieces being all ownvoices & character driven stories helped.)

I loved this one!!

I ended up reading The Memory Trees by Kali Wallace. (I think I heard about it on this forum somewhere.) I'm not sure it's really horror BUT I LOVED IT!

I loved this one!!"
Kimberly, I do believe that this was one of her scariest books that she has written so far! I could literally feel the haunting atmosphere of the book radiating off the pages! :)
