What have you read or are reading in PNR?

I haven't even started that series yet, Madame Z, so don't feel bad!

I want to read the older popular books, but it is hard keeping up!

The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning
The Fae Chronicles by Amelia Hutchins
The King Triology by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
The Dominion series by S.E. Lund
Marko Delequoix by Alaska Angelini

Those are all new to me except for the Fever series. Tell me about the other series you listed, if you don't mind, Kim.

I know I'll be VERY sad if I give in and then have to wait a year or more for the next installment. I was lucky enough to come in late in the game and have 14 books to binge on.
Anyhow... any suggestions for someone looking for PNR of the same quality/ilk to help me distract myself? The only other pnr series I'm familiar with is Feehan's Dark series. I like it, but I've slowed down a bit on reading them due to repetition of themes. It's not as good as the IAD (my personal opinion, obviously).
What about Thea Harrison's Elder Races series? It sounds kind of promising and I've been hovering over that evil 1-click button.
You know, Katie, I'm sort of running out of new PNR series. I would love to catch a new author who is writing what I like to read. I don't like erotica, so I don't pick up any of those series.
I did like The Unleashing, so I'll probably keep reading those.
I love what I've read of the Elder Races series.

Thank you Danielle, I think I will check out the Elder Races. I've noticed that the audio of Dragon Bound is available on scribd, which would prevent me spending yet more $ on audible credits (I need an intervention).
I will also check out The Unleashing as well.
Also, thanks Kym - I will take a look at that series.
I'm lucky in that I'm behind on PNR, so I have a feeling there is a lot out there that is good and will be new-to-me. I always enjoyed horror and fantasy, but for years I held the assumption that PNR was strictly a YA/NA thing. Probably all the Twilight hype. No offense to fans. Honestly, I've never read them, so can't make a judgement and may be missing out. It's just that teen romance does nothing for me at this point in my life.

The Darkness Series - Heroine is able to see shadow people that one else can see. Hero is head of a clan of the people, which are a form of vampires.
Hero senses that there is something special about heroine and gets her to join his clan.
Turns out heroine is a very powerful Mage and hero helps her learn more about her powers.
I hated to see this series end. It's a great storyline. Awesome character development and chemistry. You will laugh out loud, especially at Charles.
The series is completed and consists of six books in the series, with two character spinoff books.
The Fae Chronicles - Someone is trying to destroy Fairy so hero (Fae) enlist the help of the Guild where heroine works for help.
Both h/h are more than what they appear to be.
Story is based around h/h but it's filled with a whole bunch of smouldering, hot characters. You'll find yourself unable to pick just one to lust after.
Series is not complete. There are currently four books in the series and one character spinoff.
King Triology - Heroine seeks hero to help her locate her brother that is missing. Hero figures out that heroine had the unique ability to sense artifacts, and therefore he needs her as much as she needs him.
Hero is a mysterious, brooding anti-hero similar to Jericho Barrons in Fever series.
I can't tell you what it is but there is something special about hero.
Triology is complete and a spin off book will be released next year.
Dominion Series - Heroine is searching for answers about her mother's death and meets hero who happens to be a vampire.
Hero has a twin brother who also falls for herione causing a live triangle.
There are two sectors of vamps, one wants to live in peace with humans, the other wants to hurd them up like cattle for food. All three try to stop the more evil vamps. Religious aspects and fallen angels, conspiracy gives this series a Da Vinci Code feeling.
Series is not complete. The final book is due out any day.
Marko Delequoix - dark, vampire romance.
You won't like Marko at first but he gets better. He's ruthless in his attempt to become leader but is obsessed with herione.
Warning, some books contain rape scenes.
Series is not complete, final book due our next year.

Thanks. Yet more recs to distract me from my untouched copy of [book:Sweet Ruin. Maybe I won't fail miserably in my attempt to hoard it :D

I typed in Marko Delequoix in the Search box for Goodreads and he doesn't appear at all. Is this hardcover only? I can't afford hardcovers. I also tried Marco, Delaquoix, Delaquix, Delaqoix, etc.

Let me know what you think of it if you read it.

Does each book focus on a different couple or is this series all about the title character and his love interest. YMMV, obviously, but I normally get bored when the same couple is featured over and over. I prefer the series where the characters are all interconnected, but each couple has their own book and then possibly gets a cameo in future installments.

Thanks for the reply. It does sound fascinating and I could be wrong, perhaps the author does keep it fresh and exciting.

I just finished Octavians Undoing. It was good but more YA, like Twilight, than I normally read. The hero's supernatural element was unexpected and different. There are other books in the series but I'm not sure if I will read them. It's not that the storyline isn't good, it's just that I like more adult and darker books.
Have you read the Fever series? It has to be my all time favorite PNR.

I have given up on my resolution to hoard Sweet Ruin, so currently I'm listening to the audio. I know there's a lot of disappointment right now because we aren't getting a more familiar character's story and so many cliffhangers are out there already. However, I've found if I put that aside and go with it, I'm enjoying it. I'm only a few chapters in, granted. Still, I like the heroine. And since the point is the kill Nix (can't type that with a straight face) I know we'll see some Nixie. I do have a totally unfounded theory on "killing Nix" (view spoiler)

On my own I am reading

I am currently listening to The Darkness series on audio - I'm on book 1!
The Marko Delacroix books sound right up my street, thanks for that recommendation, I hadn't heard of them before. I love anything dark, and especially with paranormal elements :-)

Ahh I read this book last year and loved it! Ehd and Beh are great. I like Shay Savages writing a lot, she always does something different.

Lots of life stressors right now, so thought it might be comforting to delve back into a world I'm familiar with. So much of what I read lately is just 'meh' and I'm fully aware that my mood is probably a big part of it.
I took a break from the series because... well... anyone who's read probably agrees that there is a quite a bit of repetition of certain themes, etc. Hopefully I've let it lie long enough that it will feel fresh again, yet familiar in a comforting way.

I know you're kind of burned out on Feehan, so you might not like it as much as I did. But I enjoyed this a lot.

Actually I am really enjoying it :) I'm almost finished. I think I let it lie long enough that it seems much fresher. In fact I'm having to make an effort to remember some of the mythology and such.

Cool!
Cool!

I'm so glad you liked it! When Marko was first introduced in the book, I got chillbumps ... he's a real monster. This series isn't for everyone because of the dark themes but I like this series. There's one more book but I don't know it's release date yet. Im looking forward to it :-)

My only complaint is that I don't think Feehan has a flair for comedy or the knack for snark. That's fine. I appreciate that quality in a writer, but I don't require it. Maybe it's just me, but her snarky heroines just don't make me LOL like Kresley Cole's do, for example. I just wish she'd write her heroines more serious/straight because I don't think she has the flair for clever pop culture references or funny snark. I just don't think an author should hop on the snark train unless she's got the knack for it. There's nothing wrong with writing to your own strengths. Then again, perhaps I'm the only one who feels this way. I do have a quirky sense of humor that not just anything can satisfy.
I think it might depend on the series. I feel like her heroines are pretty funny in the Ghostwalker and Sea Haven books.
Dark Demon and Dark Descent were some of my faves from the series.
