I remember having this book in the 90s. It was about a couple who couldn't have kids but then get these gemstones somehow which turn into babies. They may have had powers or special properties but they were all friends and helped each other out. Searched everywhere but ran out of different details to search. Thanks!

EDIT: It was a picture book with generally realistic illustrations.
