Alexandra (swedechick) | 105 comments Hi, I'm not sure what is wrong with this book, so I'm not sure how to fix it (I am a "librarian" myself.). This book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... is listed under both Eve Rice (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) and Eva Rice (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) as author. Problem is, Eva Rice was born around the same time that the book was published, so she couldn't have written it.

I've looked, but it isn't obvious what's wrong... Help please =)

Z-squared | 8575 comments re 447, it's not a duplicate. amazon_kcw made a bad cover change, and as a result appeared to be a duplicate of the ACE. i strongly advise not moving around ASINs without checking the edit logs for just this sort of shenanigan.

EDIT: Actually, it looks like there have been several shenanigans *sigh*. I'll try to unravel. blargh!

Huh. Didn't see any cover change? I simply reverted author's edits & moved ASIN from kcw import to orig Kindle edition /placeholder. (Then took ISBN from author & added to ebook edition/placeholder.)

ETA: I see that you've already started to edit/revert. Pls double check b/c don't think that they are correct.

ETA2: If, by cover change, you're referring to that on Aug 2014 Jan 2014, note that it replaced pre-release one uploaded Jan 2014 Aug 2013.

Which would definitely be what I would have done, except that amazon_kcw changed the cover on the original ASIN-containing edition ~8 times:

Actually, I suspect it was a pre-pub cover change, and the small-font kit rocha cover was what originally appeared on their blog but was never on any ARCs or for sale. But I can't prove that definitively, so I'm leaving it as an ACE for now.

Except that the original cover image uploaded by Amazon on the original ASIN-containing edition IS the cover that is currently available at Amazon.

I'm not talking about the edition you MOVED the ASIN too. That obviously had a cover change to take out a placeholder; however, the librarian that did so didn't include that information in a change comment, so I had no way of knowing that until I reverted the change (and then reverted my change, once I saw that it was a valid edit). Unless you know a better way to check the validity of cover changes, aside from reverting (and then re-reverting them), in which case, I would thank you a million times for sharing it with me! :P

??? Amazon import done Aug 11, 2014--one day after release. IIRC, that cover matches the one on orig Kindle edition/placeholder. And *that* cover was uploaded Jan 2014, 8 months prior to release date so...? *confused*

ETA: Note that I screwed up the dates (month/yr) in ETA to other post :/

Not sure if it's kosher per GR policy, but my personal guide is to ignore all cover changes prior to actual release date. Seems covers get swapped out more & more these days so decided to use that as my benchmark.

ETA: As for the many changes done by auto-imports? I got nuttin'... there seems to be no rhyme or reason that I can figure out.

The problem is I can't prove that cover never went out. It's the cover image you yourself uploaded to the ebook edition in March. If you think it's not a real cover, why didn't you go ahead and change that edition, too? I agree with you that it was almost certainly a pre-publication cover change, but I have no way of knowing if it ever went out on ARCs or not.

B/c I wasn't checking everything re: book, much less covers? Only happened onto book page due to friend's review & happened to notice Kindle had ISBN. Checked edit history and... *sigh* Ya know the rest. Sorry again.
