Questions/Problems in Completed Tasks

Currently, the Readerboard has been updated through post 2900 (check the top of the Readerboard, that's where you will find this info). Your last book (for task 10.6) is post 2908 and is, therefore, not reflected in the totals as yet.

The Name of the Wind does not currently have the genre "science fiction" or "science fiction fantasy" (it just has fantasy) on it's main page. If you got the genre verified as appearing on the book's main page in the help thread or in the genre verification thread, please repost and include which post the genre was specifically noted.

The Birth Partner does not currently have the genre "family" on it's main page. If you got the genre verified in the help thread or in the genre verification thread, please repost and include which post the genre was specifically noted.

The help thread for task 30.1 has established that only domestic cats and dogs work for Option C."

This is in response to my post for task 30.1 Namaste
The post included a picture of the animal in the book, which in this case was a lion (confused by the fact that the title of the book has the word cat). So the animal that I was showing is a lion, not a "cat". I hope this qualifies to complete the task. If not, I have a back up to the book, as the heroine in this novel would definitely qualify as a fearless female for another task! :)

Thanks, Kristina. I wasn't reading the Readerboard correctly, and thought it was completely updated. Sorry for the confusion!

You linked 1Q84 a kindle edition. To determine page length see #7 The Rules The MMP 1Q84 has 484 pages and does not qualify as a big book ticket.

Sorry they all look the same. I read the Hardcover and it has about the same nubmer of pages as the Kindle has, 622 compared with 628 so I didn't check the version that closely seeing as I thought it matched.
Anyway I've reposted with the right links.

? Ok? But how is this relevant to my repost? I didn't read an ebook or listen to an audiobook. I read the Hardcover book from the library. Which is 622 pages so definitely qualifies and I reposted as I said with all of the correct links and stated the correct number of pages. Is there a problem? Have I made another mistake or are you just letting me know for future reference?

DLMrose is pointing out that the edition that you linked to is the kindle edition not the hardcover version

The first one was incorrect but I reposted with the right link. I triple checked. And this comment was posted after my repost which would point to there being a problem with it but if so I'm not sure what it is.
Checking the Readerboard my points are 410 which is the same as my tally but my BB points are still 6 which means it hasn't been accepted. I don't know why though. The reposted book link goes to the version I read which was the Hardcover with 622 pages.
EDIT: Ah I checked the numbers and DLMrose is indeed commenting on my first post. As I'd already corrected it after the first message on here that my link was incorrect I assumed the comment was relating to my repost and was trying to work out what the trouble was. My points have been added but not my BB ticket yet and that also made me think there was a problem with it.

ETA - post 2999 Sorry, MaryMc. See post 91 in the help thread for task 30.1 -- only African lions.

Please do not mention BB or GRA tickets at the top of your post unless you are reposting because you forgot to add them to your first post asking for points. It's very confusing.
Please review the suggested template in the General Guidelines for Posting for the best way to format posts.
Also, Greyfriars Bobby has the genre "children's" on the book's main page. All books with children's on the main page must meet the criteria for children's books as spelled out in the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014.

Stone Song do not appear to have print versions on Goodreads. Please see the Rules of the Challenge for information on the requirements for ebooks with no print editions and then repost this tasks (make a NEW post in the completed tasks thread) with the required information.

How annoying, there were lots more main page genres when I posted it my claim--I have no idea where they all went! Never mind, I will have to find another task that it fits :(

Readerboard for BB tickets has been updated to post 3000 and mine is post # 2951.
I posted same as I always do, after the book title, etc, and mentioned that I was claiming BB ticket as book was 544 pages.
This is the edition I read:

Was there something wrong with my post? I checked here and it isn't mentioned

If you are claiming a BB ticket, you must include the number of pages in the book.
Please repost indicating that you would like to claim a big book ticket at the top of your post and include the page numbers. Reposts must be complete so include book links and any necessary information (you can click edit and copy your post including the html code book links- just copying a post does not copy the links)

As I was reading back through this tread this evening, I looked at the edition of 1Q84: Books One and Two you've claimed for a Big Book ticket and also the one you claimed for points for task 10.7.
The Rules of the Challenge state: 7. Each book must be read completely and can be counted only once per challenge. All elements of books separated into multiple audio or paperback parts (often identified as “Part 1”, “Part 2”, etc.) must be read.
And 1Q84 actually has 3 parts. The complete novel is over 900 pages long. So, I've erroneously given you credit for this task since you have not yet read all parts of the book. Please repost this task when you have completed part 3.

It's fine to include more than one newly completed task in a post but if you do so the tasks must be listed in numerical order, lowest to highest. Please review the Posting Requirements effective Fall 2014 and then repost your tasks in numerical order.

Latitude 38 does not appear to have a print version on Goodreads. Please see the Rules of the Challenge for information on the requirements for ebooks with no print editions and then repost this task (make a NEW post in the completed tasks thread) with the required information.

Just to check this, they are 'separate' books rather than being a big book that has been split up afterwards into smaller parts. The first two were released together and the 3rd book was released a year later and was a bit of a surprise as it was thought to be concluded, nobody was expecting another book. The ruling against having a book being split up into parts I thought would apply to Bks 1 and 2 but not to Book 3.
If this is the ruling though that's absolutely fine but for future reference so I don't get it wrong again (and cause 'more' work for you poor Mods!) does that apply to all series? So that The Lord of the Rings must be read all three books together and not split up with The Fellowship, Two Towers and Return of the King? This is most applicable for me because I intend to read A Dance to the Music of Time staring in spring of next year. This consists of 12 books in total and they are often grouped together in lots of 3 (for each of the seasons). I was going to read one a month and so follow the seasons (so 3 for spring, 3 for summer etc). How would that be allowed in this? Like 1Q84 they are separate books released at separate times (at least I think so, I guess I had better check for sure!) but they can be bought either separately, or grouped together. Would you rule that I would have to read all 12, 3 or would singly be allowed in this case?
1Q84 didn't change its name though unlike the above mentioned books so I guess that could be the reason why these are classed as the same book even if released a year apart?
P.S. Thank you guys for the great job you do! I really didn't want to make yet more work for you. I know the rule about part books but I didn't think it would apply to these two. I was planning on putting down Book 3 for the series task when I get around to reading it. Looks like I'll have to rethink that one!
Edit: Yes the 12 books were definitely were released separately.
1. A Question of Upbringing – (1951)
2. A Buyer's Market – (1952)
3. The Acceptance World – (1955)
4. At Lady Molly's – (1957)
5. Casanova's Chinese Restaurant – (1960)
6. The Kindly Ones – (1962)
7. The Valley of Bones – (1964)
8. The Soldier's Art – (1966)
9. The Military Philosophers – (1968)
10. Books Do Furnish a Room – (1971)
11. Temporary Kings – (1973)
12. Hearing Secret Harmonies – (1975)

As for the A Dance to the Music of Time series, that does appear to be a 12 book series. The collected works, or "Movements" in this case, are identified as being collections of 3 complete novels and would, therefore, fall under Rule #11 (aggregate works) in the Rules of the Challenge.
If you're ever concerned or questioning whether or not a book has been serialized or if it stands alone as a series book, please don't hesitate to ask in the General Questions help thread for a particular challenge.

Task 5.3 requires that you read the first book in a series, which is identified as (series title, #1) on Goodreads. A collected work such as Morning Glories, Vol. 1: For a Better Future does not fit this format.
Task 10.4 requires that you read a book that is number 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 in a series, which should be indicated by (series title, #2), (series title, #3), (series title, #4), (series title, #5), or (series title, #6). Saga, Volume 3 will not work as it is (Saga #13-18).
As per the Rules of the Challenge, books with the main page genres of: Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga may only be used for 5, 10, and 15 point tasks unless specifically allowed by the task creator of higher point tasks. Neither task 25.3 nor task 25.5 makes an exception for sequential art books.

Task 25.1 requires that you state the continent on which you live, as well as the country and continent of each of your books. Please repost this task with the required information.
No need to repost task 15.4. The points for that task have been recorded.

It's fine to include more than one newly completed task in a post but if you do so the tasks must be listed in numerical order, lowest to highest. Please review the Posting Requirements effective Fall 2014 and then repost your tasks in numerical order.

Dancing on the Edge has the genre "children's" on the book's main page. All books with children's on the main page must meet the criteria for children's books as spelled out in the Rules of the Challenge: Effective Fall 2014.
The only exception to this rule are books with the genre "children" or "kids" that do not exist in AR Bookfinder. Those books may be used for task 5.10 without the information from that site (since it doesn't exist).
Please repost including the information required from AR Bookfinder.
