I have been waiting forever for this book from the library so I know people are loving it. I put it on hold as soon as the group picked it for the group read too! I am number 14... so at least getting closer.

Andrea (thegenuinebeauty) I started reading this book completely not knowing what the plot was about because everyone was saying to go completely not knowing what it is about. So yeah so far I am completely shocked because this book is NOTHING like I thought it was going to be. This is a good thing because I CANNOT PUT IT DOWN!!!!

Khristina Chess (khristina_chess) I didn't think I'd like this book but finally decided to pick it up because so many groups are reading it. I thought it started out slow, but now I'm really hooked. I can't wait to see how it's going to end!

Janelle Fila (janellefila) I loved this story! It was a fast, easy read but also beautiful in language and style. I felt like I was in a fairy tale, swept along with magical characters in the sweet rhythm and cadence of this book. I also loved the mystery, and while I tried to guess the outcome the entire story, I was surprised (but pleased) with the ending. Although the story is imaginative, there are many strong lessons teens and adults can take away from this sparkling story. So pleased that it was this month's chosen book!

I really liked the writing style, too. I've read complaints on GR about the fragmented sentences, but I liked it. It was fitting for the story and Cady's mental state.

I also LOVED how she described emotions as bleeding wounds that need to be tended to. The imagery was great, and I really related to it. I feel like some wounds do "bleed."

Grace (gdaminato) | 520 comments I just started listening to the audiobook. I'm six minutes in and I detect elements of magical realism. I hope it keeps up.
