Bookcover/link -A Little Something Different A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall
Rating - 4*
Review -
I really enjoyed this sweet romance. Told from 14 different perspectives, it was a unique way to watch a young couple's relationship (or non-relationship) develop. My favorite perspectives were probably the waitress, English professor and Victor, the classmate with an attitude problem. A solid 4-4.5 stars :)

The Hook Up (Game On, #1) by Kristen Callihan
Book: The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
Kristen Callihan is a new to me author, but I really liked her writing style and her characters.Anna is not looking for a relationship, she just wants to finish college and she wants to figure out what to do with her life.Drew Baylor is a star, a quarterback who can have any girl he wants, but he wants Anna. I liked Drew, he was such a complex characters, I loved his humor and I really understood him. This was a good book and I recommend it if you look for a good NA.

The Lion's Daughter (Scoundrels, #1) by Loretta Chase
The Lion's Daughter by Loretta Chase
Rating:
3 stars
Review:
I was beginning to think this challenge was charmed since all the books I've read so far have been awesome, but this book just shot that theory down. The plot is all over the place, the conversations are repetitive, and the characters weird and unsympathetic. It's getting three stars instead of two because I learned something about Albanian history and culture in the 1800s.

Ms.soule (mrssoule) Week 5

Option 1:

13. MC is a single parent.
To qualify for this theme, the fact that an MC is a single must be clear in the precis OR must come from a bookshelf or list that has 'single parent/mother/father/daddy/mummy' in it's name. (Only one of the parent equivalent words are required in the shelf/list name. Eg 'Single father')

*Please note - other expansions, contractions or spelling variations of father/mother are allowed, eg mom, but that is it. It must have 'single' in the list/shelf name.*

Option 2:
Key date: 11 April 2014

*Please* ensure your selection and completion posts comply with msg 3 in the 'We're Off and Running' Thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

*Please* make sure you link to the list that you use - refer msg 4 above on how to insert a link into your posts.

***

*Everyone, but especially Captains*
Please make sure book reviews do not contain spoilers. Please feel free to ask your team-mates (everyone, not just Captains) to hide aspects that may reveal a bit too much - I'm sure the member doesn't mean to do this, but it's easy to get excited when you love/hate a book :)

Any indication of how the book develops beyond the information available in the precis should be hidden behind spoiler tags. Even if it is just raising a question of what might happen - that is sort of a good indicator ;)

Kindling the Moon (Arcadia Bell, #1) by Jenn Bennett Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
This was an entertaining first-in-series book about magician Arcadia Bell. I enjoyed her relationship with demon/demonologist Lon and his teenage son Jupe (short for Jupiter). The difference in Arcadia & Lon's communication styles is both hilarious and realistic. Jupe is great - super-talkative and high-energy - and also a very believable character. I'm adding the second in the series to my TBR list.

Week #5
Bookcover/link Inevitable (Harmony, #1) by Angela Graham Inevitable by Angela Graham
Rating (1-5) 3.5
Review

What can I say about this book.. It is so good. I hated the ending though.

Cassandra and her friend Hilary walk in and find Cassandra's fiance in bed with another woman. A year later Cassandra gets a new neighbor, Logan. Dreamboat Logan.. The problem with Logan is he is a playboy. The right thing is he is wonderful single father of 4 yr old Oliver. I loved the bantering between Logan and Cassandra. He wanted her in bed and she wasn't having it. Will they find love? Will Cassandra ever trust a man? Will Logan ever trust a woman?

The one negative about the book is Ms Graham almost guarantees you will buy the second book by the cliffhanger she ended the book with. I would give the book a 4 * but I think I will give it 3.5 instead because of that.

I just want everyone to know I go in for jury duty tomorrow afternoon. I am one of those that usually get picked lol. Just an honest face lol little do they know what really goes on in this brain of mine. lol. So I am not sure at this point if I will be around Friday to make my selection. So I guess the best thing for me to do is take a pass on week 6. If I am around I can change that right? Hopefully, I hate not picking a book. I love to read.. This is just a heads up.

Against the Wall (Maverick Montana, #1) by Rebecca Zanetti
Book: Against the Wall by Rebecca Zanetti
Rating: 2.5 stars
Review:
It was a nice book. I appreciated the family and the community aspect of the story, but I didn't like the heroine because she didn't know what she wanted and the hero was too pushy and controlling. The story was very generic and (view spoiler). The story did have nothing special and I lost my interest halfway, but I still finished it so yey for me.

Book: Confessions of an Alli Cat Confessions of an Alli Cat (The Cougar Chronicles, #1) by Courtney Cole
Rating: 4 stars
Review:
This book was really funny. There were a few really well written scenes that had me laughing out loud. I loved Alli, as well as all of the supporting characters. Alli's relationship with her daughter was close and warm. The last 1/4 of the book did not go the way I imagined it would, but it was still a fun, cute read.

Rating: 4 stars
Review:
This was my first book by Geralyn Dawson and it was good! Along with the intensity of good mystery and suspense, there was plenty of humor and some truly romantic romance. I know that's repetitive, but really, there was this part where he rents an entire bed and breakfast for the night to romance her...and wow, it was awesome! I'm absolutely reading the second book in the series to find out what happens with the next Callahan brother!

I liked this book but didn't love it. It started out great, Kylie was sassy and headstrong. But immature bantering and lack of communication bogged down the story. It was a nice read but I won't be continuing with the series. 3.5*

This is my first Victoria Dahl story, but I really liked it. The heroine was funny, witty and she loved to talk dirty in bed. I liked that she was the one who convinced Ben to start a relationship with her. It was something different. I would have given 4.5 stars if the book would have ended after (view spoiler). But the ending made me change my mind. Still this was a good book with entertaining characters and I want to continue reading this series.

How the book qualifies:'Cop' in title and 'cop' and 'PI' in precis-

Book 1 in the Crime Tells series. Solving a case about pilfered pooches is pretty tame work for a vice cop, but when the victim is your grandmother, well… the police take care of their own. Trouble is, one look at Lyric Montgomery, the PI his grandmother has hired to recover her stolen dachshunds, and Kieran Burke knows he's got a problem.

I really wanted to like the book, but erotica just isn't my thing. I just don't like mindless sex. I don't mind sex in the book but give me a good story behind it.

There wasn't much of a story line to it. Just a couple side stories. A couple stalkers so to speak.

I like Chief Ben Lawson but not as much as I wanted. He had to many hang ups. He didn't like the secret Molly had. He had been in a scandal before with his father so he didn't trust much.

I couldn't stand Molly Jennings. I get she had issues and I feel for her there. She was just shallow and really didn't care for peoples feelings. Or at least that is the way I took it.

When Molly's secret does come out in the light it comes out in a big way.

Will Ben and Molly get over it? Will they find true love? Does their past continue haunt them?
