Ben | 79 comments Barrington Library is restarting this book discussion group with the summer reading theme, Universe of Stories. We will select one book per month that the group can read and discuss. Titles will be available from the public access catalog in multiple formats. Discussion questions will be uploaded midway during each month, which can continue past the month's end.

The first title will be announced soon.

Ben | 79 comments The first title is Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Start reading now or in June. Or later in the summer. Discussion questions will be posted in mid-June. First impressions are always welcome!

Jackie (jackieataylor) | 6 comments I began reading Dark Matters yesterday. Let's just say I am intrigued by the book's plot so far- poor Jason Dessen is caught up in a 'double' life, and I'm there with him!

Ben | 79 comments Introduce yourself here. Include your reading interests, why you joined this group, what part of Rhode Island (or the world) you come from, etc.

Ben | 79 comments We're revising "A Universe of Stories" to encompass different genres, styles, and subjects. We will select one title for everyone to read together. Selected titles can be fiction, nonfiction, old, new, etc. They can also fit into any genre. This revision of the book group is to get you out of your comfort zone and try new genres. Here are the proposed themes for 2021/22:

May/June - Classics
July/August - Short stories
September/October - Historical fiction
November/December - Family saga
January/February - Romance
March/April - Poetry or Humor
May/June - Mothers & Fathers (or Grandparents)

There will also be a separate topic thread for readers to comment about what they're reading if different from the selected title. You're welcome to join in any or all discussions. Happy reading!

Jen (jenisfedup) | 1 comments Hi Ben! In response to your October 1, 2019, @ 1033 post, I will post my introduction.

Hi everyone, my name is Jen, I live in Barrington and I have an excessive excitement over small things. I have 1 cat child, 2 human children, and a lovely husband that I've been married to for 13 years. I use to be a closet reader when I was younger, and now as an adult, I try to get people to pick up a book instead of the remote. Pretty sure my friends and family are starting to think it's creepy. BUT, I don't care. Turns out their favorite Netflix shows comes from somewhere!

Ben's Mystery/Thriller book club was my first book club, and I loved the discussions with others who were just as excited as me to chat about the story. Then, I realized I was sad that it was coming to an end in June, and I wanted to continue. So here I am. A Universe of Stories will be my book club, while Ben's Mystery/Thriller book club is not in session.

Also, Ben, I will be back in the fall, and may I join the registration list early, or do I need to wait? If you could let me know, I would appreciate it!
