Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments I'll take

Goodreads Inspired Categories: Book is off the first page of the Best Book Boyfriends list

I need to read one of the books for another challenge.

message 104: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments I just posted my Goodreads Inspired Categories: Book is within the first 25 of YA Weapons list.

I'll also do blue book cover.

message 105: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Claire it looks like you have a lot of banked books! That's awesome!! Can you start filling in Round 2 with the books you read?

If anyone else has books that they read that didn't fit any categories in Round 1, can you also please add them to either the banked books list or Round 2 sheet?

message 106: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments If no one else has flip flops or a winter scene I can take those if needed.

message 107: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments I’ll do that tomorrow Jenny. Is that okay?

message 108: by Claire (new)

Claire | 499 comments I will take the winter scene and add my banked books.

message 109: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments I am reading The Fall of Hyperion, and one edition was published the year I was born. I’m guessing it will take me a couple more weeks to finish it though, and it seems like we might be able to finish our first hunt before then. But if not, I could cover that one.

message 110: by Claire (new)

Claire | 499 comments Vicki, I just finished a blue cover. Will add that. If you allready read another one, throw mine out!:-)

message 111: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments No, I’m going to read a blue one but use yours! That’ll take the pressure off me. Thank you, Claire!

message 112: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments Holy moly, Claire! You had a TON of books on the Banked Tab. Oh my gosh! I knew you read more/faster than I do but I didn't know you were bionic reader! CRAZY!!

I got Sport covered because I read a book that I guess I forgot about or overlooked. So I added that one for Round 1. I also added my banked books but I didn't bank them. LOL I only had 4 or 5...my name isn't CLAIRE. LOL So I assume we don't need them on the Banked Tab, but if you want them there too I can do that.

Sharon, you can put your book for sports in the round 2 SS.

message 113: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mariampillai | 331 comments No problem!

message 114: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments Sharon wrote: "No problem!"

Cool, I don't like stepping on toes but when I saw that the tasks for round 2 are exactly the same, I figured I'd go ahead and put my already read book in round 1 and you could do round 2. I want to move on! LOL

message 115: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Yes great everyone! We can definitely post read books to Round 2 (and 3) we just can't post the completion thread until we read all the books/tasks for Round 1. Then we can have a completion dump fest (well, Claire can at least). LOL

Do you sleep Claire?? Bionic Reader - that's gonna be my new name for you...

@Caroline, I would say go ahead and start the book that has an edition published in the year you were born. If someone else reads for it before you we can always use it in Round 2.

message 116: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments I found a book to read that was published in the year I was born too so whoever finishes first can post in Round 1, the other in Round 2.

message 117: by Claire (new)

Claire | 499 comments Haha, yes, I do sleep, girls:-) But last month I read quite a few in my native language and that is much faster.
Vicki, I restored your blue cover. I was confused as it disappeared in the SS. But you already posted it.

I hve read the winter cover and will read for the flip flops too.

message 118: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Hi team! Damselflies let me know that she is still reading but has been super busy with school and will post what she has as soon as she can. But she won't be on much to chat.

message 119: by Sharon (new)

Okay, thanks, Claire. :)

message 121: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments I'm confused AGAIN. lol Okay, so I finished a book and went to post it on the review thread and it showed that we still needed a book from a trilogy and mine bit that so I put that. Then I went to put it on the SS and saw that you (Jenny) had already finished a book for a trilogy. So I don't know why it shows in the review thread that we need it.

It also can cover a book with 5 in the page count. Someone has "claimed" that one but we can use mine if we want to since it's finished.

message 122: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments Claire, you have claimed "author's first name is the same as your middle name," so I was wondering if you're reading that one. If not, I found a book that I can read that will fit.

message 123: by Claire (new)

Claire | 499 comments Vicki wrote: "Claire, you have claimed "author's first name is the same as your middle name," so I was wondering if you're reading that one. If not, I found a book that I can read that will fit."

I could, but it is a long so if you could that would be aweesome!

The trilogy was my fault. I forgot to update the SS - I used that book as a book recommended by one of the Mods so it fit a different category. I updated the SS to reflect your book Vicki for the trilogy. So we can leave Sharon's book in the one with the 5 in the page count.

Damselflies | 456 comments @Everyone I'm kinda bummed, I know I took a long time to post my review but to just straight up take the category that I was reading :/
Please find a category for me for book Strange The Dreamer by Laini Taylor since I do not have the time to start figuring out where I can put
(I had 50% blue and just so you know, I actually find it a very rude thing to do)

Damselflies, I am the culprit and I very sorry! I honestly don't know what happened, but I posted it way back on April 13. I wouldn't have purposely bumped you off so I can't explain what happened because I don't know. Jenny posted that we needed a blue cover on April 30 and I don't even know why because evidently I had posted a 50% blue cover. Please accept my apology. I promise you I wouldn't have purposely just taken your name off and added mine. I don't know if possibly your name had been taken off accidentally or what. All I can do is say I am sorry.

I don't mind if it's okay with Jenny and the MOD if my book is taken off and I can back it and you can use yours for the 50% blue. I really don't know what else to say, but I think it's rude too if someone does that to another person without asking first, so I wouldn't do it on purpose, I give you my word. That's about all I can do. :)

message 127: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments I just looked and I actually have the book on the that I posted as 50% blue as a banked book for round 2, so obviously I screwed up somewhere. For now I'll leave it on the round 2 sheet until we see if we can switch my book out for yours, Damselflies.

message 128: by Damselflies (last edited May 03, 2019 06:06AM) (new)

Damselflies | 456 comments I'll edit the category on my review once it's figured out.
NOTE: DO NOT !!!!!!! remove me this time around, I have claimed for the second hunt: Published in an odd numbered month (January (1), March (3), May (5)… etc.)
I repeat do not !!!! remove it !!! I always finish what I start (in the time it needs to be finished) unless it's such an horrible book that I drop it, but I (!) will remove it myself then !

message 129: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Hi everyone. I moved Claire's "Children of Blood and Bone" book to Round 2, and placed Damselflie's book under the Mod-ly Categories: read a book on Andrea's books that changed my life shelf. It fit there too.

Damselflies, did you pick out what you want to read next? I know you are very busy so maybe you can put your book title and selected category on the Round 3 sheet? We have some really speedy readers on this team, and I am happy to search for alternate categories for your books if you'd like me to.

Hey again. Please check in at least once a week just to see if we need to move your book. There was no malice intent involved in removing your book. There had been no response from you for almost a month so we weren't even sure if you were playing. We are almost done with Round 1, and will likely be done with Round 2 by the 3rd week in May so please just check in to see if we are nearing round completion. If we are, and your book is still not done, we may need to move it to Round 3 but will keep it in the same category so as not to confuse things.

That's why communication at least periodic is so very important in a team challenge. Even if it's a quick post to say -"I"m still here and reading" that's enough. Some people really do just totally drop out of challenges and never say they dropped out...I've had it happen more than once in challenges I have been on and challenges I've managed in other groups.

message 131: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments We still have the book with "MC has an unusual pet" open in Round 1. Can anyone think of a book they are planning on reading soo where someone has an unusual pet? Dragon? Rat? Owl? Hell hound? I'll ask if I can count Harry's "hell hound" mixed mutt as an unusual pet.

message 132: by Damselflies (new)

Damselflies | 456 comments I'm sorry but that's just assuming, I can assume a lot now too. You could've send me a message before doing anything. Also this is a 3 month long challenge ! How is hearing nothing from me on here any valid reason really, especially since I still had reacted to a BR with Vicki for example ? An other thing I joined in the category just for fun. Which means even if I just read 2 books this entire challenge it's still valid. And I already said which category I took.

message 133: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Valid points! Sorry for making any assumptions. In the future I will send you a PM before making any changes to the book you claim on the SS. I'm glad you really liked the book you read.

message 134: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Hi ladies. The reason for the challenges is not to cause strife between members. It's meant to be fun. It's suggested, by me who put this challenge together, that you shouldn't put books into the spreadsheet until you finish them. That is a suggestion for this exact reason.

We have a mix of serious, medium, and just for fun members. So it's not fair for people who read faster than others to have to wait for someone who may not finish a book as fast to finish. That's why I say it easier, for everyone, to add books when they're finished.

Vicki and Jenny, if you could just comment on this thread before moving books around just to let everyone know what's going on. So that everyone is in the loop.

Damselflies, I understand you want to still be a part of the challenge and that you felt some type of way because your book was moved. But you have to understand where the other girls were coming from. They hadn't heard from you in a month. So naturally they thought you weren't participating anymore.

Books that are put on the second hunts tab will be used as soon as y'all finish the first hunt. It's not like books put there won't be used or accumulate points. So please don't be upset if your book can be used in a different hunt.

message 135: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Will do!

message 136: by Damselflies (new)

Damselflies | 456 comments @Felicia The problem is that it happened without notifying me at all. If they had send me a message, I could've replied with that I was going to finish the book in * amount of days, or I could've just agreed and said yes please move it to an other category. But it was just removed completely, no message at all, just assuming things. In addition the first hunt isn't even completed yet entirely, so I still finished the book before the first hunt was completely finished. That's my issue here, she mentioned communication, but it's should work the other way around too that if you're going to remove something from a member that should be said also. I hope you can all understand how frustrating it is, finding a gap to finish the book, writing in this case a shorter review then I normally do, wanting to check the read on the SS, to just find it completely gone.

message 137: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Understandable. Which is why I told them to just let everyone know what's going on. So this doesn't happen again.

In this case, from what Vicki said it sounds like she made a mistake. So going forward hopefully everyone will be more mindful of the ss and everyone's books.

message 138: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Just to clear the air, Vicki didn't remove the book - I removed it and put Vicki's book in that spot. Mea culpa!

message 139: by Damselflies (new)

Damselflies | 456 comments Vicki and me already cleared it out many hours ago since even though she apologized I knew it wasn't her since she would've recognized the book since it was our BR :)

message 140: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 2102 comments I am really sorry - I just remembered that I started Killing Commendatore in March, so I cannot count it for a category. So we still need a book that has a work of art on the cover. If no one else has a book planned that would count for that, I will look for a short one that I could finish in a few days.

message 141: by Felicia (new)

Felicia | 15003 comments Hi all! I'm doing a little rule changing! I'm going to change the Character Category - seasonal name to seasonal/floral name.

Have at it y'all. :D

message 142: by Maya (new)

Maya White | 734 comments Hey y'all, so I've been MIA for a bit. It was a little crazy these pas two weeks. But I've finished Sweet Evil and I'm still planning on putting it under Character Categories- features a character with an accent. If that's all good with everyone?

message 143: by Maya (new)

Maya White | 734 comments And for the month of May, I'm planning on reading The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas , Caraval (Caraval, #1) by Stephanie Garber , Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1) by Susan Dennard , City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare , and finishing City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare . But I think in the month of May, that's all I'll be able to get through.

message 148: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 3851 comments Not yet. These still need to be done:

Message Alaina and ask for a book to read (ask for a certain genre and if you want YA/NA/ADULT )- A Curse so Dark and Lonely - Jammin Jenny
Message Andrea and ask for a book to read (ask for a certain genre and if you want YA/NA/ADULT) - Vicious - Jammin Jenny
‘May’ in text - Murder in Costa Rica - Jammin Jenny
Publication date has the numbers 4,5,& 6 in it (i.e. April 5th, 2016) [in any order] - The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (4/26/2005) - Jammin Jenny
Author’s first name is the same as your middle name - Vicki
Published from the year you were born - The Man from High Castle/Philip K. Dick - Jammin Jenny
Book is off the first page of the Best Book Boyfriends list - Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James - Jammin Jenny

I haven't started reading any of the books I am currently listed for, so if someone else wants to read for them go ahead and just move mine to Round 2.
