Spencer Cotham This book is really depressing! Really, really depressing. But at the same time, it isn't. Let me explain. This book follows the experiences of Craig Gilner in a psych ward in Manhattan after almost committing suicide. And thats all i can tell you without spoiling anything. As frustrating as that might be, I can still try and tiptoe around the landmine spoilers. This book deals with the reality of what mental health is like, specifically depression and anxiety. Mental health is a tricky subject, because most people either do not understand it, or have pre-conceived connotations with the mentally ill. But this book dives headfirst into what depression is like, what it's like to be admitted into a treatment center, self harm, and all that jazz. As frighting and taboo that might be, I would recommend this book to everyone. The author himself had experiences with psychiatric treatment centers, depression, and mental health issues altogether. The book does tie up most of the loose ends, which I was really grateful for. Read this!
