It's time to starting thinking about some fun and interesting categories for our Group Reads!

The ideas gathered from this thread will be used to build a list from which categories will be randomly chosen.

Each season's Group Reads will have 2 fiction categories and 1 non-fiction category. The year's categories will be posted in advance so Group Reads nominators will have time to research and select appropriate books. For more information about the nominating process, please see task 20.10 in the Rewards of the Challenge. As always, polls will be set up each season to choose between the nominated books for that season's Group Reads.

Choices from the past years we would prefer not to repeat:

Dystopia
Southern Literature
Fiction set in a member state of the Arab League
Poetry
Space Opera
Family Saga
Russian novels
Fiction - Short stories
Stand-alone Fantasy Novels
LGBT Mystery

Kristen (kristenia) | 1128 comments Crafty fiction (quilting, knitting, scrapbooking, etc.)
Medieval fiction
I am also interested in Sports, fiction or non-fiction
I also like the idea of reading debut novels.

Non-fiction - biographies, memoirs, or narrative non-fiction related to "Rebels with a Cause" I mean a person (or group of people) that has been part of a movement for needed change (political revolutions, civil rights, women's rights, voter rights, abolitionists, worker rights, etc.) Basically, people that risked something by standing up for change when the idea of change was unpopular. Or, you could narrow this to any one of these social issues (and others) and still find plenty of options.

Non-fiction - Lesser Known World Leaders

>.< Thanks! I totally was just playing around ... lol.
Cakey - Non-fiction: Dessert-themed books like memoirs from bakers or baking books.

Fiction: Again, dessert-themed. Whether it is just in the title, mc's profession, or essential ingredient to the plotline. <-- Obv I want this to be a yummy cozy mystery type of crew.

I like the idea of combining so that way we get foodies and bookworms! ^_^
