Week 5: Roll 1
Spot: 32

Sinner, Savior (Brooklyn Sinners, #2) by Avril Ashton
Book: Sinner, Savior by Avril Ashton (Book 2, Brooklyn Sinners)
Finished: 10/4
Rating & Review: ★★★★.
Juan Pablo Castillo was left running Los Pescadores "Los P" after his boss and best friend Angelo Pagan chose to go legit and be with his love Detective Gabriel Ashby in Book 1, Love the Sinner.

While Juan was hurt as he was also in love with Angelo, he was dealing with the
fall out of being boss, assassination attempts. So he decided it was time to pay his enemies back, and he would start with Devon McGhee, his enemies #2. But as he toyed with Devon, he couldn't escape the feelings Devon awoke in him. What is it about Devon that captivated him? Is this what Angelo felt when he was around Gab? Pablo is a crime lord and many people depend on him for their living and he isn't willing to walk away. He has to decide if this side action with Devon is worth the trouble it's sure to bring his way.

This story was different enough from book 1 to be just as enjoyable. I loved the chemistry between Pablo & Devon. I loved the fact that Devon wore his feelings on his sleeve. He was never afraid to voice what he wanted. The writing kept me interested and flowed well. The sex scenes were plenty and were hawt. These two guys definitely had that combustible energy and I was feeling it! The narrator brought each character to life. i don't know what is going to happen to Mateo and the rest of Los P, but I want them to find love too. I will continue to listen to this series.

How are you holding up? Your daughter?

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ (wolffaerie17) | 2160 comments Today was a good day for her. I'm still worried which will probably lead to more late nights until she better or on her way to being better. I haven't gotten to talk to the daughter yet but talked to her other caregivers. From what they report, she did well today especially given it's her first hospitalization.

Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur (Book 7, Riley Jensen/Guardian)
Finished: 10/8

I don't know I both liked and disliked this one. Finally Riley and Quinn have come together after a couple of books on the outs. It's seems like they are finally on the path of happy and bam (punch to the gut), Kye Murphy comes to town.

We first saw him in book 5, Embraced by Darkness, as enforcer to the Pack Alpha that Riley and Rhoan don't acknowledge. He is here as a bounty hunty and they are hunting witches who are raising up zombies to murder teenage girls.

Typical Riley, being around anything with a pulse gets her panties all wet. So when she boinks Kye, that puts a monkey wrench in her relationship with Quinn. Old School Vampires like Quinn are monogamous and very old fashioned, so he isn't willing to share Riley. The problem is there is something strong there between Kye and Riley, so now we have another triangle.
I just want Riley and Quinn to be together! That's all I freaking want, Damn it!

Review:

Wow, this book was scary! It reminded me of 1984 in the sense that it gave me that underlying feeling of doom throughout the entire book. Unlike 1984, this book felt realistic...like it's not too far from what goes on in many countries, and that's what made it so frightening. What a disturbing little gem of a book! I took one star off, because, even though this was a great book, I just think it has been hyped up to the point that I was expecting to be blown away a little more. Also, because it freaked me out so bad.

Review:

This book had an interesting plot...a former child actor moves in with his grandparents after his mother and her boyfriend are murdered. One of his friends wants to hypnotize him for fun, and while is under hypnosis, he takes on the personality of a very evil man. When he wakes up, he can't remember anything, so he goes to see a hypnotist to find out what's going on.

This plot had so many elements that I felt compelled to keep reading...it definitely had me hooked. But 544 pages is a bit much, and I think this book could have been a little shorter. There was a lot of rambling, so I started to lose interest after awhile. When I started to understand what was actually going on, I thought it was a little silly. Clever, but completely ridiculous. It was a decent read though, and I got through it fairly quickly despite the length.

This one was a bit of a surprise. It wasn't heavy vampire stuff. It was light and fluffy. So Samson was a vampire suffering from erectile dysfunction for 9 months. His friends decided the best way to help him rise to the occasion was for a stripper to come and entice his inner beast to come out to play. So for his birthday, he waited for boom boom belinda to come and rock his world.
On the same day, Delilah was getting attached, so she ran to the nearest house and knocked on the door. Of course, it was Samson house. Imagine Samson's amusement at the fact that his birthday present comes complete with a "kidnapping--save me theme".
But the great thing was the great "Acting" was really working for him, it awoke his inner hunter and his body was responding. Well for the rest, you will have to read it. LOL!

Sorry Angie.

1) My book Samson's Lovely Mortal wont work so I am changing it to Origin, which is a 4th in a series and/or a title "O" book.

2) Standalones do NOT include 1st in series as I previously told the team. Standalones are just that-- Standalones

That is why I changed my posted book.
