Review: I would call this a second chance romance. She was scared of his manliness ( Linda Howard has pushy men) when she was younger. She left for college, got married to a man who turned wife beater. When her father dies and her husband goes too far, she gets a divorce and moves to father's dying ranch to hide and start anew. Manly neighbor is still there and starts helping her. Well, of course the ex starts causing problems, and we have a novel. The hero is an arrogant alpha male. She used to be spoiled but has changed and wants to be useful. It is good enough that I have read it a couple times when I was in the mood for an alpha male on a horse.

Slashback by Rob Thurman (Cal Leandros #8)

Review:
The 8th book in the Cal Leandros series switches back and forth between two story threads: One told by Cal and set in the present, where a supernatural serial killer is skinning people and seems to have taken a special interest in our favourite monster-hunting brothers, and one set 12 years in the past and told by a 15-year-old Niko, delving even deeper into the close bond the brothers share through an episode from their past that eventually turns out to be connected to the current evil they face. While admittedly not one of my favourite books from the series, this was certainly another highly entertaining read from a great UF series that always has something new to offer.

This book was pretty enjoyable. There were some moments that felt like things moved too fast and a few moments that felt cliched, but overall, I enjoyed Sophie and Jacob and the rest of the crazy characters. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the brother's books and Dawn's book.

Dracula continue..... this time with the children... Captain Quincey Harker, son of Jonathan & Mina Harker or is he? The heroine is Mary Steward, daughter of Dr. Steward. It's time for Quincey to carry on his father's plan and Lily Shaw is chosen to be his bride. Will the vampire bloodline continue......?
It was a neat twist and just as in Dracula the book was also told through the characters' journals. I liked it. :)

Review: very typical Jayne Ann Krentz under the pseudonym Stephanie James. Both characters had quite a bit of pride, but as usual, the man seems to have earned his arrogance; whereas, she came across as spoiled and annoying. She was so sure she was right, and she had a hard time anytime he suggested she think the idea through. Old fashioned guy vs "modern thinking" woman creates friction. It isn't my favorite, but I've read it at least three times.

Review:
Seph is still torn between Johnny (who recently tried to kill her) and Menessos (who's lost a considerable amount of power and status due to being marked by her), her foster daughter Beverley vanishes after playing with a magical artifact, both the men in her life have the internal politics of their respective supernatural races to deal with - and as usual a bunch of people want her dead. Lots of story threads twisted together in this one, keeping things interesting but also occasionally confusing. Like in the last book, the constant unannounced POV switches between Seph's 1st person narration and everyone else's 3rd person POV adds to the confusion. A good read nonetheless, but I preferred the first books in the series which stuck to Seph's POV only.

It was intriguing, but a little lacking. Louie was .... for a vampire, a Debbie Downer. Poor me, Poor me.
After reading Vampire Lestat first, Lestat's conduct in this book, well...sucks (no pun intended). I didn't care for him all at. But then again, the story gives us the past life to present story of one vampire (Louie) with all its sadness, pain, and bittersweet experiences.

I wasn't so sure about Krit throughout this series. I still wasn't so sure about him when I started this book. He was more prevalent in the last book with his sorta relationship with Jess, so I felt like I had gotten to see the addictive side of him. I actually started liking Krit a lot in this book. He was pretty sweet with Blythe and I loved finally seeing that side of him. Krit definitely grew on me as the book went on.
Blythe on the other hand...I really had a difficult time understanding her. There were some contradictory things with her that bothered me, but overall, I did like her. She was definitely the right fit for Krit's craziness.
This wasn't my favorite of the series, but it was pretty good. The series has gained a lot of momentum and I really enjoy the characters. I love that we get to see the old characters every time we get a new book. I always look forward to catching up with them.

The Queen from Provence by Jean Plaidy (Plantagenet Saga #6)
Finished: 19 October 2014

Review:
Book 6 of the Plantagenet Saga is set during the reign of Henry III, from his marriage to Eleanor of Provence until his death. As usual, the novel incorporates the POVs of numerous characters, bot at the English court and elsewhere. Henry III was one of those English kings I knew virtually nothing about, and while I enjoyed the story I am more looking forward to the next books covering characters whose lives I'm more interested in.

It was a pretty good book. Good characters, not flawless but identifiable in some way. Plenty of plot with danger and romance. I've read most of the series, but I got tired of it by about 5 or 6 books in. If I remember correctly, this one was my favorite. Yay Dragons!

I really enjoyed this book. There was a lot to love about the characters and the writing. There was a depth to the story that I wasn't expecting. The meaning behind actions and situations was well thought out. I absolutely loved the tattoos and where they came from and what they meant to the person with the tattoo.
Bennett was absolutely swoonworthy. Avery was extremely relatable although at times I found her a bit annoying. Together, I thought they were great. I would have loved to really see more of the time they spent together. The car ride to the art exhibit was a great part of the book and I was sad that a lot of the hanging out and getting to know each other as friends was glossed over.
I also would have liked more time getting to know Avery and Bennett's friends. We just scratched the surface with them, which has definitely made me curious about what to expect from their books. I'm really glad I finally got the chance to read this and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I was looking for a delightful, funny, Christmas story and all I found was a not-so-funny, crude, Christmas story. I do have to admitted there were a few things in the book that may me laugh, but there were few a far between. :(

Review: Very typical Hannah Howell writing/style. This series is about a couple families in the regency time frame who have various mental powers/skills/curses. This specific story is about one Knight, Sir Argus, who gets kidnapped and is rescued by a beautiful girl who is the daughter of a duke. They fall in love during the family crisis of finding the kidnappers who pose a danger to the entire gifted family.

Review:
Stella has always been on her own. People tend to stay away from her and strange things happen to and around her - but she has never known exactly why. When she is targeted by a vicious group calling itself the Brotherhood who claim to be responsible for the murders of numerous women all over Europe who were burned at the stake, however, a young woman named Etoile swoops in for a last minute rescue and takes Stella to New York where she learns about her parents and the fact that she is a witch. Set up in a safe house with Etoile and a number of other witches, she learns to control her powers, builds friendships and finds love. But the danger has not passed, and Stella's refuge will not protect her for long and an enemy closer than the brotherhood wants her dead.
A fun, quick read, although the middle could have used some more action and the secondary characters some more complexity. Still, I enjoyed the story and might pick up the next book at some point. (3.5/5)

I assumed I would enjoy this because it was a sports based romance, but really the small amounf of sports part was the only thing I really enjoyed. I didn't really like the pacing of Mick and Tara's relationship. The story was far more cliched without anything new than I was expecting. And the amount of times the women that Mick used to date was brought up was ridiculous. Between that and Tara's insecurities, I just had a really difficult time finishing the book. I'm not sure if I'll keep going with this series.

The author has a great sense of humor. I laughed all through the book. Letting us see how to handle life's situations the southern-way. Good chapters titles and the recipes at the end of the chapters were great.

This is the last roll, if you aren't able to finish or don't want to bother with reading a book and posting, I totally understand. I've had a great time playing with you ladies this round!! We would have had an awesome shot if the die had been working more in our favor. It started out liking me, but then we had a lot of 3's that held us back and then a bunch of 1's and 2's at the end. Boo, but what can you do. At least we ended with a strong roll. lol

Review: I love to read Jayne Ann Krentz. Hero and heroin work together while solving a mystery. H and h are in Seattle. They join forces to catch a blackmailer and murderer. They, of course fall in lust which grows into love. Yay!

Oh that's cool. I'll definitely check her out then.

Well, Happy Holidays to you all! Hope to be on a team with one or more of you in 2015.

Series: Women's Murder Club #2
Rating: 3.5 ★★★
Review:
I went back to chance up with this series. This time I find out who were the original members of the Women's Murder Club, (a detective, a reporter, an assistant district attorney, and a medical examiner) Lindsay, Cindy, Jill, and Claire. Their are out to catch capture of the "Chimera" and a serial killer who has killed a little girl and an old woman. I have enjoyed reading this series so far and hope I can get to the first book soon.
Here's mine as well, just to finish the game properly. :) I had a great time playing with you guys!

The second novel in the wonderfully entertaining A Charm of Magpies series sees Lucien and Stephen face blackmail, giant rats and the potential exposure of their relationship in another unputdownable and highly enjoyable read. I love these characters more with every single page I read, can't wait for the release of book 3!
