Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments The alternates:
Each number corresponds with the spot on the board.
For colors: The cover has to be at least 50%
For locations: As long as the book takes part at all in the given location .
For Shelves: Any book on the given shelf
For Publication Years: I'll be using how GR has it's publication date listed.
For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok.
For Cover Items: Must have the given item on the cover
For Titles: Only the first word of the title. A, An, And, and The do not count.
So if the letter is B: The Best Day would be ok. Dear Betty would not be ok.

Jennifer H Roll 1~Adult Shelf

Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville #1) by Carrie Vaughn by Carrie Vaughn
Finished: 9/1
Rating: ♥♥♥

This book, all about the adventures of late-night radio DJ Kitty who happens to be a werewolf, starts off very slowly. At the beginning, I didn't much care for this character who seemed entirely too inclined to allow other people to bully her and fight her battles. I recommend sticking with the book though, as the last 2/3 of the book proves to be much better than the rocky start.

Life of Pi by Yann Martel by Yann Martel
Finished: 9/2
Rating: 4 stars

This book was about a young boy that stranded in a life raft. I truly enjoyed this book. There were some hard scenes to read and it is hard to get into. However in the end it was worth it. A very thought provoking book.

I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier by Crystal Rose by Crystal Rose
Finished: 9/1
Rating: 4 stars

Ryan is a brand new recruit in the US Army. Phillip is the drill sergeant with a reputation for toughness. The story is by turns funny, angsty and sad and deals with some interesting issues like PTSD and war. It does feel at times like two different books because there is a lot of humor and then it'll flip to a lot of drama but I liked it.

Joeera Week 1 ( roll 4 )

A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks ( Adult ) ( r-f-Sept 1-2)

Rated 5 stars

Review

This was an awesome read.It had romance and a little mystery throw in as well. You will be thinking about love and forgiveness in a whole new way. There is a little bit of everything in this story. A father's love,a husband's love and a cop in action

Review:

Oh my god this was so good I love this entire series and this takes me back to my fantasy roots. (view spoiler) (personal aside). Back to the book. Tavi is now a two year veteran captain of the First Aleran Legion. We find out in this book that he is actually the legitimate son of the dead Princeps of Alera Septimus and his real name is Octavius. Tavi sucess in previous books have brought him the attention of an ambitious senator who is a pawn for the powerful Acquitane family. the Senator is put in charge of the Combined legions now Dealing with the Canim invasion. The Senator is a text book general with no real experience fighting and does not understand the tactical improvement Tavi has made as he is so tradition bound. The senator arrange for a catch 22 type situation for Tavi. He has to execute the captured civialian of the town that was under canim control for aiding the enemy, that give Tavi few choices. He can execute the civilians which goes against what Tavi believes in, he can refuse the order and be relieved of duty, or he can let his hot headed friend Max loose to rearrange the senator's anatomy into little pieces, which while satisfying would bog the legion down in enemy territory. He goes outside the box and is planning a mock Canim to let the prisoner escape. before that can hapen he gets a message from the Canim leader and goes to meet him. Tavi get arrested for meetng with the enemy but he is able to make the situation with the civilian end with the order of execution being stayed in exchange for giving the loyal First aleran Legion orders to support the campaign while he is sent back to headquarters to await trial for treason. He reveals who he is at headquarters and then goes to break Varg the Canem Ambassador and Father ofd the Canem Commander free from a political prison to further his plan for a peaceful situation getting the Canem back to their home territory while preserving Aleran Lives. Meanwhile the High Lord and Tavi's grandfather is travelling incognito with Tavi's uncle and his uncle's wife Amara to bring and end to Kalarus' rebellion. There is a lot of action in this 451 page read.

I will be honest it doesn't look like it meets the 50% requirement but I am terrible at determing anything that is not really obvious on covers. I have a hard time telling if covers are drawn or not.

Roger, do you need to borrow it? I can buy it on Amazon and then lend it to you. I would probably read it by the end of today/early tomorrow which should give you plenty of time to finish before Sunday?

Just let me know.
