Or going old school with some H.P. Lovecraft like Call of Cthulhu or At the Mountains of Madness even though it’s a novella.

After Dracul, I'd like to give another +1 to The Bone Weaver's Orchard. Great title and the story sure sounds interesting!

Great to see you here, S.D.! :)

I had the opportunity to do so as the second post, but I used restraint, lest I accidentally start a movement."
LMAO

I've owned this book for years and it's on my HA TBR Challenge.
Also, + 1

The Great God Pan by Arthur Machen."

Valancourt just released it as part of their "Paperbacks from Hell" series. More info including links to buy before it's on Amazon:

Nope, the books don't have to be recent, just easily acquired by our members.

This sounds cool and I never heard of it before. I'll give it a +1.

I also own multiple Barker novels I have yet to read.
+1 The Damnation Game

All of Barker's stories are great, but I'll nominate this as it would be an excellent place to start.

I'll also nominate

As you know I'm from Christchurch, so the news musn't have made it to you (view spoiler)
Hence the need for my monsters to be of the non-human variety, I've got enough of that right here.
Oh Melanie I’m so sorry to hear that. If it has made the news I haven’t heard but I try to avoid it.

I will 3rd (4th? 5th?) this book. I think it's the only one of the choices so far that I actually own ;-).

Hello Melanie,
I had forgotten you were from Christchurch 😔
When it comes to voting, I will choose a monster-monster book, or I will abstain.
Take care and big hugs to the flying monkeys 🌼🌸🌺

Mr. Ugly was a good read! I love Wol-vriey's work and is a must for gorehounds.
