R18: Team #5 ~ Five in a Row
I might be a little delayed starting one for this while I catch up on some already started books and some library downloads
I should probably take the opportunity to read
and get it off my TBR, but I don't know if I want to. I'll decide tomorrow. :D
I picked one, but it's long and it might be a few days before I start:
about half-way through my favorite author book.

Review:
First off I have to give props to Charley that even in her current condition she is still determined to do her job.
Secondly, this series is just getting better, more twists and turns.
Thirdly , a lot is happening in this book and I mean a lot. (view spoiler) Especially in the last quarter of it things are going down....and it's just the start. What's going to happen to Charley!!!
Fourthly, I'm glad to see the side characters rolls.....and hi Mr. Wong....it's about time we know more about you....
Fifthly I can not wait for the next book["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Book: Undead and Unreturnable by MaryJanice Davidson
Read: April 9th
Rating: 2.43 stars
Review:
Rawr...Betsy drives me nuts, makes me laugh but annoys me so much. So I really don't know where I stand with regards of a rating. It's not a 2 more like 2.43 so not enough for ME to round it to 3 stars.
I'm going read the next book at some point because there is a story arc that seems promising, so Betsy you undead chicklet we will meet again but not anytime soon.
Also just set a Wedding date already.
I'm wondering what's going on with her sister, well other then what we know from previous books. But the girl is starting to be not herself, or maybe she's coming to terms with who her birth mother is...the devil herself.

This was just meh for me. I didn't hate it. It was just really bogged down in scientific stuff. Which got a little boring. Also there were so many characters that I could not keep track of who was who. I also found it a little too simple that they would figure out how to communicate with one mermaid and that one mermaid would instantly be able to call off the attack.
I am not particularly enjoying my vamps/weres book, so it is going slowly. Sorry team. I'll get it done, but maybe a day late.
I'm late with vamps-weres book too. Work has been crazy and I've been just falling asleep with book in hand. Takes couple more days to finish and then it's weekend and hopefully no work!
I just started mine last night and it’s long. But we’ve done really well so far. If we get a little behind on this one shelf it’s not the end of the world.
The book I wanted to read for Science Fiction, I can't read until May! But I found a good substitute - Artemis by Andy Weir - 305 pages and shelved 3126 times as science-fiction.
Darn it! I knew I should have held off on a couple of the books I read last week. But I have more sci-fi. I'll worry more about when I get close to finishing my vampires-werewolves book. Knocked out a good chunk of it today but it's like 20 discs. I wish I could have gotten the ebook from the library so I could switch back and forth but it was a 13 week wait.
Completion PostShelf: Science Fiction
Artemis by Andy Weir
How Does It Fit: Shelved 3126 times as science-fiction

Review: Excellent book. Very similar to The Martian because the main character is a super smart science-y genius. Very different in that the story doesn't take place in a bubble (well, technically it takes place in several bubbles built on the moon's surface, but I don't mean a literal bubble). Jazz, unlike Watney, is surrounded by the town of Artemis, the people of Artemis, friends and family and enemies. She's a criminal, with a good heart. She's not just fighting the environment, she's also fighting herself. Despite the prospect of imminent death (or deportation) this book was light and fun to read, with great characters and an interesting mystery.
I'll finish my vamps/weres book tomorrow I promise. I know better than to read YA paranormal romance with a deadline, but I forgot. :D

The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper
Pages: 356
Read: 04/15/2019
Rating: 3 stars
I was expecting to like this book much more than I actually ended up liking it. Molly Harper has been one of my favorite Paranormal authors. Her style is a little bit over the top with all the banter and one-liners but I don't mind it.
This book is a spin-off and brings back familiar characters from Jane Jameson series whom I was looking forward to meet again. I must say, they were pretty well represented. Which was the good part.
Our main character actually let me down here. Ms. Iris, who is Half-Moon Hollow’s only daytime vampire concierge running her clients daytime errands, falls unfortunately under TSTL- character category. All these rules she had for dealing with her dangerous clients and she broke every single one of them doing extra stupid things. It just didn't make any sense to me or maybe I'm just over this series and spin-offs.

Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
How Does It Fit: Shelved 22 times as vampires-werewolves

Review: Even when I was an overly-dramatic angsty teenager, this would have been too much overly dramatic teenage angst for me. Seriously already!
Anyway, in this approximately 400 page book, nothing happens (except some angst) for over 300 pages. Then all the things happen for about 50 pages and then Maggie Stiefvater morphs into Stephen King, stops writing, closes her keyboard and sends the book off to the publishers so we can imagine our own ending. Not cool.
Also, when you write a trilogy, you are supposed to stop writing after the 3rd book. Even the people who didn't like Forever, apparently loved Cole and Isabel. I could care less and book #4 is never going to happen in my world. Thanks anyway.

Finally got around to reading this. I thought I had and now I can't remember which witch book I read. (it was 3 witch sisters living in NYC). I found this very enjoyable although it drag for me in some places. I like that it differs a little from the normal vampire cliches: no sunlight, only consume blood etc.., But I really like the witchy parts. Looking forward to reading more of the series. Not sure if I'll watch the TV show. I don't get that channel anyway. I actually loaded this only my IPOD several months ago and seeing that a show is out prompted me to finally get around to it. I have the next one ready to go as well.
Requested our Vampires-werewolves stamp. Hoping to finish my sci-fi book tonight or tomorrow. Picked 2 long ones back to back. But I have to have it finished by Saturday for another challenge.

Could it have been
- I always think I have read this book and I haven't either. :D
Allison I think you are right. I have that marked as read. Maybe I will revisit that one after the All Souls trilogy.
I should have my science fiction book finished tomorrow. It's my alone day in the office and so lots of audio book time. In the mean time, I am off to find an Alpha male book that works with another challenge I'm doing. Got a work thing tonight so no reading for me. But I do get a nice dinner, drinks and Bar Rated Trivia night out with my guy on the company's dime.
