Book: Written in Red by Anne Bishop
Series: The Others #1
Read date: 06.09.14
Rating: ★★★★★
Review:
I was awhile since I've read a book I really couldn't put down because I needed to know what will happen next. And it was even longer that I had to read next book in series as soon as I finished first one.

It doesn't really end with cliffhanger. It's more like battle is over, but war still continues.

Book: If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Series: If I Stay #1
Date finished: September 6, 2014
Rating: ★★★★
Review: 17 year old Mia has to face some extremely tough choices after being in a horrible car accident. I thought this was a very well-written book with great characters and an emotional plot-line that never gets too cheesy. Definitely worth reading.

With No One as Witness by Elizabeth George (Inspector Lynley #13)
Finished: 07 September 2014
Rating: ****
Review:
A serial killer preying on adolescent boys is loose in London, sparking a media frenzy and lots of pressure from above on Lynley and his team to close the case while the body count rises. Meanwhile, the ever increasing tension between Lynley and AC Hillier, who keeps interfering in the investigation, hamper their work. Once again, Elizabeth George expertly juggles numerous story threads without ever losing the suspense that keeps building throughout the novel. I enjoyed this one far more than the previous book which focussed on Deborah and Simon St James and left Lynley and Barbara out almost entirely. The gut punch of a plot twist in the last part of the book came quite unexpectedly indeed and leaves both reader and characters numb and looking for answers that the next book will hopefully provide.

Book:The Sinner by Tess Gerritsen
Date Finished: 7 September
Series: Rizzoli & Isles #3
Rating:★★★★
Review:
I'm really digging this series. Whenever I read this book, I lost track of time and progress (even though I couldn't find a proper stretch to read). I'm still not completely sold on Jane Rizzoli - she's a little prickly for me but I can't deny she's a strong character (though I do want the author to "show" me more) Unlike last book, in this book we get most of Maura Isles' POV. It has helped establish the character strongly. The mystery portion was done well - I didn't guess it at all and the character development did not suffer at all. I definitely want to continue the series soon.

Oh, that's good then. I'm definitely pushing it up.

We have been sick around here, so I haven't finished yet, but I am reading right now. When is the deadline to be finished by?

Hope you're all better now!
Yes, as long as you post it today before midnight (Central Time) it should be ok. I still have to roll today, though, so the earlier the better. :) (Midnight US Central Time is 8:00am the following day for me, and I'm not particularly keen on getting out of bed before 8 on a Saturday to roll the dice for a game. XD I'll be up until 2 or 3am tonight, though.)
What time zone are you in?

Review:
I love JQ's books. They always make me feel good. And I love how always characters from other series make an appearance.
This time we have Olivia and Harry. Harry works for War office translating things to and from Russian. Because of some rumors and since they live next door, Olivia starts to spy on him through the her bedroom window. After a while they start talking (through the windows).
It was pretty funny book.

Trail of Dead by Melissa F. Olson (Scarlett Bernard #2)
Finished: 14 September 2014
Rating: ****
Review:
It's always great to see a second book in a series live up to the promise of the first! Magical null and cleaner Scarlett Bernard has her hands full in this action-packed story as her former mentor turned vampire Olivia appears to be pursuing a dangerous agenda and won't hesitate to hurt Scarlett's loved ones. Meanwhile, two murdered witches bring LAPD detective Jesse Cruz back into Old World affairs - and into Scarlett's life. A quick and very entertaining read, looking forward to the next part.

Vi, have you picked a book yet for this week? :)
Kay, you never checked in with last week's review - are you still playing?

Book: Love, Rosie by Cecelia Ahern
Series: Stand alone (#0)
Date finished: September 15, 2014

Review: In this book, we get to follow Rosie's life and relationship through letters, emails and chat conversations. I normally don't like this type of narrative, but Rosie is a great character and you cannot help getting caught up in the story. This is an easy, fun read.
maria helena, are you back home? I'll gladly hand the captain hat back to you for the next roll. :D
I sent Kay a pm yesterday, let's see if we hear from her. Jenne knows she's been AWOL, so if she doesn't check in we can continue as a 4 person team.

I'm back home. Thanks for being captain while I was away. I also sent Kay a pm. I hope she checks in before Friday, but otherwise we'll have to continue without her :(

I'm not sure if I can help with this week's book, but I am definitely in for tomorrow's roll. If I have until midnight tonight to post a book with a mode of transportation on the cover I could probably finish

Alternative - Mode of transportation

Book: Crescent Dawn

Review: A fairly typical Dirk Pitt novel by Clive Cussler - mindless escapism and adventure at its best. It's nice to see that Dirk Jr. has taken over for his father in getting the women in his life killed in dramatic ways though. The circle of life. :)

Date Finished: 19 September
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: It has been a while since I read the first one so I was racking my brains a bit while I tried to remember about the cast if characters. But the two main characters were just good. It's a reconciliation romance but it was done very maturely. No big misunderstanding. The western atmosphere is well done - very gritty and real. Will definitely be continuing the series.
