I'm sad too. But we should be having a new round soon...sadly no guarantee we'll be on the same team though.

We've been discussing the logistics given the holidays and stuff. I love this challenge and I really enjoyed playing both versions this time around. Until this week of course, but that's just cause work is crazy right now.

I just can't stop myself. Even when I'm tired I try to read. There are other things I should be doing, but I just can't stop. It's an addiction...I might need help. lol

I really enjoyed this book. There was a lot to love about the characters and the writing. There was a depth to the story that I wasn't expecting. The meaning behind actions and situations was well thought out. I absolutely loved the tattoos and where they came from and what they meant to the person with the tattoo.
Bennett was absolutely swoonworthy. Avery was extremely relatable although at times I found her a bit annoying. Together, I thought they were great. I would have loved to really see more of the time they spent together. The car ride to the art exhibit was a great part of the book and I was sad that a lot of the hanging out and getting to know each other as friends was glossed over.
I also would have liked more time getting to know Avery and Bennett's friends. We just scratched the surface with them, which has definitely made me curious about what to expect from their books. I'm really glad I finally got the chance to read this and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Yes, I have actually read both of them & really liked them too!

Elena, Apoorv & TayaJay - How are you guys doing with your books this week?

Thanks!

Fantastic. Then I'm going to bed soon. Kristin can you roll tomorrow please?
Hopefully, team 2 and everyone else will roll really, really low numbers and we'll roll a high one. If they don't, then this will likely be the last roll.

I'm also wondering if we should consider using our free pass since we still have it and it may be the last week to use it...? Just throwing that out there... It probably really depends on whether y'all would rather get your reviews in and save it in case we can go another week and what Paris thinks the best strategy is as I'm a newby just thinking out loud. :)

I'm not sure if there is a time limit, like you can't use the free pass until two hours before the deadline to roll or whatever. But we can always find out.

Book: The Husband's Secret by by Liane Moriarty

Review:
A very readable and riveting story with lifelike if not always likable characters. I was hesitant about reading this book at first because of the chick-lit label but a number of friends recommended it and I'm glad I listened :). I liked the structure of three seemingly unconnected storylines coming together and I think Liane Moriarty managed to avoid turning the book into a soap opera despite all the drama and plot twists by being precise and making every detail count. The book is written excellently and I really enjoyed it. It was a nice break from a lot of sci fi I seemed to have been reading lately, and I will surely look for more books by this author.

Unexpected Family
I really like this story. It was easy read and revealed itself nicely. I love that MCs were middle aged, averaged and flawed. This was the author first attempt at writing a romance instead of very explicit erotic story. I hope this isn't his last attempt. (4 stars)

Keeping it simple and short this time.

Review
This was new, a first-time with the author and probably even the genre, gothic ! But, by the end of it I am certain that Joyce Carol Oates will be read again by me. Its probably a gift that Oates has as to how easily she enters our subconscious through these stories and forces us to think about things that may have disappeared because of the readers perception. This was disturbing and painful at times. Four novellas with hard-hitting power to evoke emotions like never before.

Apoorv thank you for at least posting your review this week. Unfortunately, since you didn't post it yesterday, we are not able to roll. Thankfully, the game is pretty much over and since we weren't in a position to win, not rolling and reading this week isn't going to hurt us, except that we aren't going to finish the game.
I hope you all enjoyed the game especially since it was your first time playing. A new round will be posted shortly since this one went really fast. Keep an eye out for the sign ups if you want to play again!!

I tried ! But it was fun whatever little I could participate. Thank you so much for putting up with me and helping me throughout.
Apologies again.
